Hello people,

I have downloaded a lot of .x file from the net. I found them at various Free model pages.

But I was thinking of modifying them as per my requirements. So I tried opening them in milkshape. There was no error...but for some reason I just cant see anything in the milkshape windows.

Could someone guide me so as to what exactly I need to do so as to view and modify the .x files in milkshape just as I can use .ms3d files?

Thank you very much!

-filya

p.s: On the same note, what other model formats can I download so as to be able to modify them using milkshape and then use it in my game?

you can only "open" ms3d files in milkshape. for other filetypes, you must "import". I'm not sure if you can import .x files though. you can probably find a plugin if you cant...

The facility for importing .x files into Milkshape exists, but oddly it's not under File > Import

You need to use Tools > DirectX Mesh Tools...

Click the 'folder' icon to load your .x file, then to get it into Milkshape click on the 'save to disk' icon.

BTW, you can only import static models this way, any animation data is lost.

Cheers

gps. thanks

yea, I could open .x files with that plugin.
This helps a lot I guess

btw, just wondering about this :
if I download any Free model off the net, and modify it. Does it still mean its not mine?
I dont intend to sell it or anything, but wondering how it works.
