Newcomers DBPro Corner / Creating a non-block world or level to walk through

What's the best way to use a 'world' or 'level', such as a cave that has boulders, spikes, and varying ground height that a character can walk through? In other words, how do I make the character walk on the varied heights of the ground without sinkning through the ground, and collide with objects in the map without hard-coding every single object like the dbpro examples do?

that really depends on your game.

You could also use bsp maps from Quake III, although the submodels do not load on their own. With those you can use the bsp collision that is already in DBPro. I used the pak0.pk3 file. It is a little tricky to spawn in a spot that is appropriate in some maps.

you can get QIII maps at planetquake. Some quite spectacular ones, too.

Except I'm making a completely original 3d platformer game, not an fps.. thanks anyways though

Well, I recomend NGC, I bought it and never regret it, even today. It has no effect on performance, and is 100% completely accurate, also if you want, you can make the player move slower uphill and also slide downhill; if you want to see for yourself, the dll lasts for 3 minutes without a serial number.
