does anyone know of the highest value before it turns black again.
as iam using it and when the ground gets to high it reverses the normals back to black?

set matrix normal 1,x,z,cos(get matrix height(1,x,z)+35),sin(get matrix height(1,(x),z)+40),cos(get matrix height(1,(x),z)+35)
........

cos and sin can return a number between -1 and 1

Normals should be from 0 to 1

so I assume that's your problem

wath do you mean exactly is the largest power 1.0 for the normals?
i have still not got it where i want it but its close
you can se the screenie that i have managed to limit the darkest parts.
