Hey guys my hands system is operational in-game now.

Here\'s the spec. Fully animated
left and right arms, hands, and fingers.

I put out to buy animated hands but the guru never
even emailed me back! So, I did my own for nothing but time.

Here\'s some screens.

So The software makes Hands Which you can use as wepons ?

or hands that are constantly there and are on guns or what? but ... wow Nice

This hands system can carry whatever guns / meelee
weapons you want, also it's a meelee weapon itself.

I'm thinking about distribution model. This is too technical
for general users as a resource, only gun makers who use milkshape
can use this as is. So, I'll probably make some meelee weapons now
and release hands with meelee weapon a/b/c etc over time.

I'm open to suggestions however.

I like it, but I think the glove texture looks a little too plain color.

The one thing which is easily
modifiable by anyone is the texture,
it's not a major priority for me
to work on textures whilst setting up
stuff, as long as the model is UV'd,
it's all good in development phase of things.

Here is the UV texture, anyone who can do a better texture
please do, and if it's really cool I'll use it in
future screens and owe you a favour.

Is it only in MS3D format? Cause it'd be nice if we could get it in atleast 3ds for us max users.

I've developed in milkshape3d so yeh it's ms3d format.
Not sure if you can translate the model and/with skeleton into .3ds.

I'm busy today but my initial plan now is to finish a basic
"hands as meelee" weapon asap, and release that for a look.
I made a pickup (big deal!), and also I have made it
so that the hands go into there own dir in gamecore/guns/
and also entitybank/(no big deal!)

I know having a hands pickup is stupid! (in advance)

Great work! now can you just give us from the forearm up without sleeves and animate it so it looks like the plr is throwing a punch? maybe use raytrace to inflict small amounts of damage?

And Nue B - Weapons in FPSC (excluding projectile based like rockets) always use raycasting to determine where the bullet is going to hit.

Nope, it's weird, I did it because all the model givers here always say, if anyone wants to do a pickup feel free. Thing is
the hands are the base, if you want hands holding different
weapons, they are foundational, a part of the player avatar,
no pick up required.

Yes, the hands themselves are
destined to make an initial showing on player-spawn
in almost any case one could imagine.

Hey, I think meelee is the way
because the big guns are just overkill
considering the AI,

Wow man thats awesome. Will you be releasing them free? (Sorry if you said I cant be bothered to read all those posts since im tired lol). If so then awesome, also can someone make other textures so the arms/ gloves dont look as cheesy etc? If so thatd be so sweet. Heck id even pay for the arms and textures to be changed!

Other then the pickup, the hands look awsome. can't wait 'till release!

Also, maybe you should made several different style hands (zombie-green,chopped up hands/arms,human-the one you have now,alien-green,3 fingers? thin arm)

Hi guys sorry to not post back sooner.
I'm now project lead in a game dev team,
working with two good modellers, and
we're working on a game showcase/demo using fpsc,
and the hands system underpins
the concept so it's unlikely
the hands will be released very soon,
but, part of our concept is to release
a model pack, after the game is made,
which may contain the hands
system, as well as all the meelee weapons,
unique guns and a good number of other models.

it seems a good way to go,
so that's the state of play.

Model pack 5 will give everyone heaps of hands and
new stuff so I hope you all support JF and buy mp5
when it arrives.

I've bought a web domain and if your interested I'll be offering
a link pretty soon where you can catch a look at some of the models and get an idea of the game we're now working on.

I'm not aggravated, look setting up the hands system
was one thing, I posted the day I finished, then it
was another thing to integrate my new modeller,
get a work pipeline implemented,
create a website, and get some meelee weapons done,
and finally get the first of them rigged
and ready to animate.

Now my good news is that I have done a whicked select animation
for the first meelee, and I can somewhat be sure that
my "zero pose" (EAI's term), is good enough at least for my
project, as is my hand skeleton, and the method I'm using on the weapons. so I'm able to now advance into getting the meelee's done and in game.

It's one thing to make a single weapon, it's another to be making a suite of weapons all based on an "articulated hands system".
Also, I've not done a single gun weapon ever! So, I've been
researching stuff like the mapping options ie d2, d, s and
so on, all which involves shaders which I cant use without losing most of my levels (and I know why now...) And, trying to tell myself that even though EAI and JF and BF et al are all so awesome, I'm still valid!

Basically, I can't afford to rush because I know that it's me that will have to keep revisiting the screwed up work.

Also, some of the weapons I've now the chance to be
working on are somewhat unique and deserve
my full attention. Thanx to my modeller!

I'll leave the m16's to the experts, whilst
I ponder other areas.

Anyway, I'll do an animation video soon.

I'm happy for the interest, but I don't want to
dissappoint anyone.

Dosnt theese hands & arms slow down the game alot? Anyway I liked the screenie, (The prison or what it was..) It gave Me that Half Life 2 felling back... (You are free to give Me that floor-texture if You want.) But I can understand if You want to keep it for Yourself...
How many polygons does theese hands & arms have?


I want to see a FPSC Professional! And lets make it REALLY expensive this time......

Hey, thanx for feedback, now JF's hands are out
and EAI's comin' and maybe Locrian's to, it seems like
there's no real hassle for hands anymore so that's all good.

I've done a XD HS2000 pistol(first gun) now on the stormboy hands
model courtesy of Brendan who I'm gonna work with in the
near future.
Here's a nasty little video of it, I have all the texture settings lo, and it looks crap but, it's non meelee so I'll post it for you.
I may do a better video on the weekend, been busy herding goats.

I think the hands are about 1500polys and yeh issues will happen if you have a real old cpu and crap video card.
