Just thank your lucky stars MsFT didn't buy it. I am sure google will do well with youtube even though youtube has never operated out of the red. Yahoo and CBS also tried to buy youtube, but in the end google won.

actually 2.2 billion, but that could be a converted rate from oz.
the site however hasn't made a cent of money as of yet as well.

I just hope they get rid of that annoying video diary chick who turned out to be an actress on some weird pilot for a reality show. There's an account that desperately needs to be irradicated

Not a big fan of You Tube myself... Another one of those "Web2.0" things that teenagers use as an excuse to live, and definatly something I can live without

At any rate, I like Google's approach to business - They made it big, and are not doing a thing wrong by their customers (mainly those who want a good search engine). Good on 'em

I too welcome the new Google overlords.

Not sure the entire Chinese population would agree with you there... didn't google just bow to pressure from the govt and censor the search results?

Hasn't everyone? They censor pretty much everything there.

@VR2 yeah, and it isnt just China, its system wide censorship. Purchasing youtube is just to put that whole system under their control and censorship as well.

That link had absolutely no factual proof, just circumstantial evidence. But oh well, it seems to be a central hub for conspiracies anyways

And yes, I agree that Google needs to censor according to local laws. I see no issues with them bending to the Chinese government, or any other for that matter.
