Is it just how my system is set up or is it impossible (as I suspect) to use the F1 key to gain help on a command that is in a Compiled HTML file.

I can't speak for everyone but it is my opinion that Compiled HTML files are a great resource for learning how to use programs but when it comes to learning programming languages they are indeed the spawn of the devil! Give me a normal HTML file that I can access with the F1 key anyday!

Like I said in my opening sentence, it may be possible to access them with F1 and if that is the case, I would certainly appreciate someone showing me how because it would save me a lot of time and effort converting them.

I have used 'HTML help' to decompile the help files for EZ Rotate, Cloth & Particles, Enhancement Expansion Pack and others and then converted the HTML so that the help was accessible with the F1 key. It took a lot of time and effort but it has helped me a lot.
Now I have just purchased Dark Physics and Dark AI which both ship with Compiled HTML files. Luckily they both have decompiled versions aswell, although they need a lot of adjusting to be accessible with F1. It is a long and arduous task but one that I will have to do if no-one can offer a way of accessing Compiled HTML with F1 ... anyone?

It is possible, but not in the way it is implemented in DB Pro.

Help file topics have ID numbers, and there is a windows API that allows you to open a compiled help file at a given topic. BUT in DB Pro, the ini file is used to reference the help by URL.

I think that is the problem!

As I suspected

In that case I will have to continue with converting the help files for Dark Physics and Dark AI as I have with all the previous expansion packs I have bought.

Can I request that TGC don't compile future help files , or at least have them working with F1 and then make a compiled version. It would save me and others (I can't be the only one that does this) a lot of time making 'usable' help files.

Thank you
