Is there a way to count items you pick up?

Say I name all the pickups "bob", how can I show how man bob's I have?

Also, how can I get a door or item to be activated by a certain number of bob's being collected?

I'm pretty sure you would need a global variable to assign the value of bob to, which means that you could do it with empty's mod. There may be another way, but I can't think of it right now.

Whenever a bob is picked up, it would increment the value of bob by one. The door script would loop on a "bob=X" state until bob=the required number.

Best.

I only needed to know so I could have a little mini game to my rpg level for the contest, just so you could collect things for fun and be rewarded.

I know butter fingers knows quite a bit about empty's mod, so Ive emailed him about the counter.

HAP!

I read this beofe the email.

Yes, explosys is right, I think empty's mod is going to be the most friendly .exe for the comp. It'll offer the use of global variables that can be assigned to items. I'm gonna try and write a similar thing for my RPG, so I'll get back to you on it.
