Here's a pic of an M79 gernade launcher I've just finished modeling. I can't UV map so don't complain about the texture

It's better than the last Gernade Launcher I made, this one the barrel is actually part way hollowed out at the opening so the gernade has somewhere to go, and I can animate better now.

I'm going to try to get this FPSC ready soon so tell my what you think

EDIT: Well, maybe Milkshape's texture cordinate editor counts as UV mapping, but I can't texture myself so it's just the image I used for refrence

Lookin good, Airslide! Nice thumper

I'm guessing it's just harsh perspective making the 'nade look small?

edit: just saw the 2nd pic. Looks great and nice work on the stock.

I'm just about to release it after a bit more tweaking, but here is a video that compares my old gernade launcher to the new one

Iam sorry, but the stock is well off. It should be pointing down, not up, otherwise your arm would be knocked off with firing it.

I don't get what you mean . Here's the refrence pic (with the model overlayed on top) if your implying a problem with the model itself.

Edit: By the way, I'm adding the sights soon, they aren't on now but they will be

lol Thanks

I've fixed a little problem with the animation where the gernade goes through part of the gun, and I'm adding the sights now.

Edit: Nevermind the sight, I can't get a good texture on it !

Do you need additional reference for the ladder sight? You could model it easily as well.

I like the animation pacing but the map shearing is detracting from otherwise good models (both of them). If you don't have the tools to UV map, I'd suggest planar mapping the grenade from the back and letting the map shear across the sides where it will be less obvious.

Heh, thats an odd stock. I would have thought you would do some damage to your self when you go to fire it.

@EAI - Sure, that would help. I'm going to get around to doing some real UV mapping, but the fact that my step mother can't find photoshop and the fact I'm just putting it off is getting in the way

@Higgins - Actually, I talked to my dad (he was in the Vietnam war) and he says when he was taught to fire it, you fired from the hip. Dispite how it looks, putting it to your shouler would, as you said, probally break your arm

Here's the field manual with a line drawing of the m79 ladder sight. Illustrations of the various firing methods too if anyone is interested:

Hope this helps.

Thanks

I started making the sight, but Milkshape crashed on me before I could save It doesn't really seem to fit though, so I might just 'forget' about it.

Just wanted to let you guys know, I re-did the sight, and, best of all, thanks to that simple tutorial on the top of this board, I'm now UV mapping this, so it will hopefully turn out better. And I got GIMP, which seems to be very nice and alot like Photoshop (I'm familar with PS, but its only on my crappy laptop that I use over the summer, so I don't know it very well).

The video looks good. I like the reload animation and sound. I noticed you spelt 'Grenade' wrong in both your video and the thread title About the funny butt on the launcher, what is the point of having a butt if the launcher is only ever going to be fired from the hip? It would save wood on the weapon...

Eventually

I'm kinda busy at the moment, but if you want the one in the video (no UV Map, just a kinda side based texture, though it looks okay cause it is round) then just ask and I'll probally give you guys that one.

Well I meant if you guys wanted it I would upload it, not send it to everyone

However, at the moment, I really want to fix a character exporting problem first, so if any of you think you can help, check 'Exporting a Character in Milkshape' in this board.
