The example in help on sliding collision has the set camera to follow command. Try it as is.
Now:
Mess about with the angle# variable, start by
rem'ing out the command that says
angle#=object angle y(11)
using
` or rem.
Try it again. The camera doesn't rotate with the cylinder.
Now you can see that by setting the variables for angle# and camheight# and camdist# using say, keys F1 to F4 you can create this camera system you want
