Like the title says.

The only downside is that you have to fiddle a bit with them to get them to look right. Also, it may be to small for your liking so you may have to scale them, it's just something that I did 10 minutes ago because I was bored and figured someone could have a use for them.

download from my website:

F-22 Raptor Productions

or click my sig.

screenshot is attached here, re-texture as you wish and post it here.
By the way, in the screenshot the textures were set to 128x128 (oops)

enjoy!

Silent thunder, thanks for the terrain. Looks good even at 128*128!

Am at work, so cant try this out here.
Can I please ask a question?

Have you tried it out and made sure it works well in game?
When I used terrain generator in Milkshape, it did a good job, except in flat parts where I couldnt walk or jump ...lol
And I couldn't figure out what went wrong. Also, in some places (very few) the frame rate dropped to 5 or so (and the only things in my game were the terrain and the player!)

thanks again

Yes, i think so, i haven't tried it out but I see no reason why it wouldn't work.

as for the frame rate, it never went below 28, so I don't think that it is affected that much.

They don't they will fall through it.

I'm also going to make a remark about these terrains, it obvious that they've done in 10 minutes. Just check the attached picture of them. The terrains look bad. The textures look bad. Pretty much unusable. Enemies and other items fall right through it.

Instead of spending 10 minutes on it, why not actually take the time to make something good? These terrains are a start and now you've starting to work on terrains, try perfecting them.

This board is full of unusable stuff, it would be much better if people try to excell in the items they make and take time to make them.

I'm pretty sure you can do much better then this.

edit: ok, here is a sandish texture, if you want a bigger one just ask.

I agree Ben.

Silent I remember when you and I were the first two people to make the terrain for fpsc users. I realised that they had to many collision problems and were fairly unusable. Ben is right when he stated that this terrain looks bad.

This is what I recommend:

Take a floor tile load it in to your modeling program. then work one tile at a time. pretty soon you will have a nice terrain map that will have minimal collision errors. then when you go to add the texture make the texture fit. the textures you use seem like a 64x64 stretched over a 1024x1024 area. if need be let 'em tile. or you can use photoshop or paintshop and create your own.

huh?
I've never made terrain before.

and, how do you make it so that enemies don't fall through?

I guess you didn't read this.

But I set the the texture size to 512x512 and it still looks bad.

Check the attached image, terrains in FPSC could look like this, but it took longer then 10 minutes for each terrain to create it.

I don't think he meant you

Quote: "how do you make it so that enemies don't fall through?"

I do think that depends on the application you use to create the landscapes. You can avoid people falling through, but you need to play with the export settings to do so and that differs from application to application.

Also you have to make sure that the terrain isn't to large and that all of the vertexes in it are connected. You cannot have holes.

There's also the problem of getting stuck in certain places, but you cannot avoind that, it's the way FPSC handles collisions and the collision engine wasn't made with large objects in mind.

Finding out how to making a good textured terrain that works in FPSC has taken me days to figure out, that's why I don't give them away for free. With my packs you don't fall through the terrains at all, but at times you still may get stuck, but that cannot be avoided.

So creating a good terrain takes time, not 10 minutes for 3, but much longer.

your right, it was someone else, but in any event you can take my recommendations and bens. I read the 1028 bit you wrote. but I tell it how I see it. If you are using either 3d world studio or cartography shop I would stop, they aren't very good for terrains.

never said mine ruled by any means, hence the reason I do no tmake them anymore. I just don't think they are feasible with the grid layout. the map is not big enough to have have good terrain in it. this is more geared for indoor close quarter shooters not campaign shooters.

i post a re-texture of gravel up there a while ago.

if you don't like it ill make another one, i'm not really re-texturing, editing, upgrading these terrains because im told that they just plain suck.
