Reacently my mate has started playing on world of warcraft. Apparently this is one of the best games ever made but im put off by the 9.00 a month fee. Is there an mmorpg that is just as good but has no monthy fees?

You know you could just use google and have your answer in no time, and if there were any MMORPG`s as good as WoW then everyone would be playing it, so no there isn't.

Check out Second Life - you get a small plot of land for free, but you can buy more if you like. Alternatively just do the usual MMORPG and fly around and do nothing in particular except waste life

Seriously though, there are people out there making a living from Second Life - as said above, google is your friend

You mean sake Man I inherited the alcohol gene from me bloody mother, damn her.

I find most of the MMORPG's if played have gotten boring after a while, I mean runescape, I'd play it more if I could just get my tree cutting level up one or two more, but the leveling there is so long winded I just get bored (the reason is so I can cut yews and sell them to people for a lot of money and money is the only thing that makes RS any fun ) I haven't played FFXI or Guild wars, but WoW looks like a top quality game, just as long as I don't end up like Stan, Cartman, Kenny and Kyle on a certian recent South Park episode playing the bugger. But no doubt if I started playing it I'd get bored, because I like playing games with a direction and not a load of random quests you pick up and other things, I mean back when I started playing Might and Magic on my first PC, I got bored quick. But if you're an MMORPG guy, then I'd guess WoW would be the best one to try out. See if you can get a trial or something.

Yeah, but it's only free until you reach level 40, and either way it's a load of crap.

Preston Tale is a pretty harsh grind. Played it for a few days and was forced to quit to preserve my mental health.

Government's are thinking of added tax to the money exchanges in games like Second Life. Was on the news a few days back... never liked that game though.

about the only MMO that I love to play after almost 4years is Final Fantasy XI. It's the community, gameplay and balance that really makes the game stand out and remain fun imo
Despite it still having the huge monthly tag of £15/month plus £1 per additional character.

The only thing that I never liked about it was the price-tag actually. Especially given it takes ages for an update unless you're on a damn quick broadband connection.
