I was just wondering if anyone from the US has seen the film Green Street, I think its called Green Street Hooligans in America.
If anyone has seen it, what did ya think of it, and what did it make you think of the British? Cos it kinda portrays us Brits as really violent bastards. I for one thought it was a good film, and just wanted to see what anyone else (particularly Americans) thought of it.

I've never liked the word "hooligan", nor have I ever been happy about being called "british". I mean it's really irritating that the Welsh, Irish, and Scottish are all recognised as their own nations but the English OH NO they're always called British.

I would say that yeah the Scottish, English and Irish have always been fairly violent. It's not like your adverage guy or gal will break and just start beating each other after saying hello in the morning, but there have always been sections of society that really end up showing the poorer side of the countries nature.

It's like saying that all Americans are gun-toting trigger happy people. Fact is that most don't even own guns, let alone condone the everyday use. Yet the whole nation is always based on the actions of the few.

Yeah, it'll always have a melingering violence here.. which for the moment is being enforced more and more by CHAVs but they won't last society, as the nation has bigger issues to worry about.

You could tell Green Street was American made.

Like the voice when he arrives at Heathrow, and the FA Cup draw on TV. They were so American/American view of England.

I didn't think it was that bad, it was basically exactly the same as The Football Factory.

Yeah yeah, and when we win anything we are suddenly "British". Lose and we are "Welsh", "Scottish" etc.

Guess you haven't walked into a pub in Swansea when Cardiff are playing them.... Oh, but you are English... make that any pub at all. Apart from Cardiff, which we all know is really England (mochgyn saes -spit-).

I haven't seen Green Street but it sounds like all those hooligan films from like 20 and 30 years ago. Bit late with that idea. Is it set in the 70's or something?

Cheers

Fair enough, although I'd stick with "British" anywhere else in the world if I was you. Come to think of it pretend you are not English. Welsh normally works well. All that conquer the world stuff still doesn't sit well don't ya know.

I liked green street hooligans. Was a great movie. That and Football Factory.

I enjoy those movies, not least of all because I'm a rabid Chelsea fan.

Carry on chaps.
