I have decided to get myself a new PDA. I have an iPaq rx1950 its great so don't get me wrong I am keeping it, but I will use it only for tweaks that I otherwise wouldn't want to risk my important data. I have been looking around and have come across some interesting devices each with its own strength and weakness. The problem is I can't find one that suits my needs! Following are a list of the features that the device has to have:

3.5 or bigger screen
Wi-Fi
Bluetooth
Camera (Not major issue)
At least 64MB SDRAM
At least 128MB ROM
SD, SDIO, MMC CF (MMC Not major issue)
USB Host port
Capable of Media Entertainment (Movies, Games, MP3)
Screen resolution larger then 320x320
Average battery
No phone

I don't ask for much heh

SO far I have come across three devices that are close to what I need. The only thing is that there is a few things that are major issues! Here are the three

Palm LifeDrive

Pros:
Large 4Gb HDD
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth
Easy to use
Good design

Cons:
Sluggish Permormance
Jams alot
Battery not really long life
No Camera

This was a gem when I first saw it but then I found out that it lacking in performance! I was wondering if anyone has or knows someone with one of these and could tell me how slow it is! I know its palm a completly different OS but like I said I am keeping my old PDA that has Windows Mobile 5.

Acer n311

Pros:
USB Host
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth
Cradle
Fairly good battery
Good Specs
Design
price

Cons:
Poor graphics accelarator makes video and gaming poor
No Camera
Amm...

This was a great PDA it had everything that I wanted until I read that it was hopelessy slow at videos and gaming! This is a main factor since I do enjoy the occasionaly game when I DSlite is out of range. And as for videos I prefer to load them onto my SD card and watch on a 3in screen rather then the thumbnail iPod screen (No offence but it is rather small). I do like how the cradle has a USB port that can plug keyboards, Hard Drives, Modems etc into it!

Dell Axim X51v

Pros:
Large ROM
Good RAM
Fast Processor
16MB Dedicated graphics chip
Large Screen

Cons:
Not good battery
Price
No USB Host
To Me somewhat lacking in features!

This is powerful it can do most of the intesive task that I might have for it but for some reason I just don't like it! I can't expalin it but it doesn't feel right if I were to buy it! Sure it great for multimedia, and it has good storage! It also comes with two 3D games to boast its 3D 16MB graphics!

So I am lost as to which one to get so I was wondering if anyone has one of the above could they share their experiences what they found to be good and bad about the devices. To be frank I do like the n311 and the lifedrive but they both have the major drawbacks! The Dell on the other hand has only a few but I just don't feel right about it and it is also lacking in overall features (Well to me anyway!).

So please share your thoughts and help me to make a decision!
Thanks!

I've got an Acer n30. OK it doesn't have all the bells and whistles you want, but for the money i cant fault it.

-No wifi but has a sdio slot for wifi card
-USB host but this is over rated. It doesn't have enough power and drivers are obviously not designed for windows CE.
-OK screen, plays all media types fine, most pocket pc apps are compatible.
-Not bad for games, for me at least. Runs GBA emulators and roms fine

I have the dell axim x30, and based on my experience with that I would definitely recommend the x51v. Whatever you do, I would suggest not getting the palm, I personally can't cope with that horrible palm OS.

No way. I have the full talkie version of Day of the Tentacle on mine along with Virtual Pool. Totally rocks...

Cheers

I am 99% probably lying in bed right now... so don't blame me for crappy typing

CJD, could you give me a an answer to my questions?

1. How do movies play?
2. Is performance good?
3. Overall features are quite good are they?
4. Would you say this review is ture to the actual device?

Thanks!
