is it possible to record music that is playing in say windows media player or winamp?

if so, then how would you go about doing it?


just give me a jump start, and ill try to finish the rest.

you'd need a dll to do that sort of thing, the only recording dbc can do i through a microphone

Well, you can generally just switch the recording device from "Microphone" to a "What You Hear" or similar setting from the Play Control options (double-click the speaker icon near the clock and go into the 'Recording' properties, or go through control panel), so that whatever plays through your speakers can be recorded just as if it were coming from the microphone but in better quality.

However, not all sound cards and drivers support this capability and obviously it's not the route you would want to take if you need to distribute the program to others, since they would also have to manually change the setting -- unless you find some way of doing so through DB.

it does exactly what I want it to do.

I mad a sound file, but for some reason it would not convert, and I wanted to put it on my ipod, but my ipod didnt like the format!

Itunes can convert to mp3 or m4a, if you do that then you're ipod can take it.
