The perfect blend of art styles...

http://media.ps3.ign.com/media/770/770960/vids_1.html

I know I'll probably get flamed for this, but am I the olny one who thinks this game looks graphicaly aweful? I mean, the Sonic characters just look plain bad mingled with the FF cg quality humans. And the vehical driving looks pretty lame to me... The best part of this game seems to be the Sonic portions (big surprise). And the rest just looks meh to me. I don't know quite what I mean, but this definitly isn't what I call Sonic.

Edit: Don't just look at the screens, watch the vids. They show sooo much more about the game.

Edit2: And I am a hard core Sonic fan...

Sonic is rejecting that little hottie!?

I played the new Sonic game on the 360, and it BLOWS. Just so you know, the controls are horrendous. Absolutely crap (and others I've talked to agree). Unless they do an entire overhaul of them, the Sonic Team should stick to 2D platformers

Well the 360 demo from Xbox Live was the e3 version, which did blow. Except for the graphics, once you actually play they are amazing, even though the art style in those cinematics are a huge contrast. But I've heard from some people who went to one of the video game events in New York recently had hands-on time with an 80% complete version of the build (the e3 one was apparently only 60%), and while it's not quite up to par, it's still vastly improved. =)

I dunno---- I just cringe when I see a great 2D platformer franchise go 3D. Mario pulled it off with Mario 64, and not many others even came close to following suit.

Here's hoping it works out for them

I hope they don't muck up this one for the PSP. It's 3d, but they're trying to make it platformy.

X360 one looked pretty...but now that I know it plays poorly, I'm quite sad.

Sonic Rivals (PSP) looks utter pathetic. Sonic Rush looks better. Perfect for the PSP, then.

Since the other one was scaring you guys so much...

Tails is a guy, that's rather disturbing, as far as the story goes I think Sonic is 16 and Tales is 8...Even worse...

I don't think the graphics are too bad, considering Sonic in CG has always been that sort of quality, so I don't expect it to exceed that, I don't see anybody throwing a bunch of normal maps onto Sonic Other than that I don't think its too bad, I mean it doesn't compare to other games, but meh!

As for the controls on the 360, I played a 360 in different game stores and personally think the 360 controller could be better, although they did handle quite well for Call of Duty 2, although I did die.

It's not so much that the graphics are bad... it's that there's a huge contrast between the style of Sonic and Final Fantasy, which the girl is basically ripped right out of. The PSP one looks like crap graphically, but I hear it actually plays more like a 2D platformer, so it may be good, but for portable Sonic right now, Rush is the way to go. As for console Sonic, wait for Sonic and the Secret Rings.

Yes, I don't think the actual models look bad, although the blended art styles suck, and if you look at some of the vids, you could swear sonic for the Wii does the desert graphics sooo much better.

And don't even get me started on the psp one... it's a racing game. That's it. RACING IN SONIC RUSH IS LIKE A SECONDARY FEATURE!!!! And it's really fun in Rush, and even works with download play. I mean, if the psp game was a REAL sonic game, then it would be interesting.
Once you play Sonic Rush, other sonic games just don't do it for you any more... you just go so darn fast... and amazing level designs and boss fights. The only sonic game I can see comming even close to toping it is the Wii game, and I honestly have some dbouts about the controls, although it looks like it will be the fastest 3d sonic yet. I'm sure I'll buy it, but I don't think it can top Rush.
