post here all forum upgrades suggestions u have in mind!!!

Well here is some of mine:

1. A PM (Private Message) system so that users will be able to send private messages to other users like most of the forums have.

2. Add where the "last post" area a "Today" if the post is today or "yesterday" if the post was yesterday.

3. A Tooltip with the first line of the thread content appear when u put the mouse over the thread title.

Well thats it for now..

(forgive my english) lol?! xD

1 has been babbled on about for some time now. im fairly certain that by now if it was gonna be addded it would have been. theres always the MSN and such links at the bottom of every users post if you wish to contact them.

2 i dont see the point of

3 sounds like a reaosnable idea. when people put "i need help" for the thread title, being able to quickly glimpse the first line could be useful.

If this is implemented FOR GOD SAKE please make it OPTIONAL, or at least dont make the whole post bar be the hotspot, make it some small symbol somewhere off to the edge of the screen that will trigger the popup for that post. Tooltips everywhere the mouse goes drives me insane!!!

Can you bookmark threads? Maybe you should be able to be the moderator of your own thread.

moderating your own threads will go out of hand... but bookmarks would be awesome...

Well thanks for the comments, and about that "today" thing, i'm just posting on some other forums and in where they have this option i found it more easy when checking if the thread is up to date, insted of starting to check for the "today date". hope u got what i said here

I've always been rather annoyed by the apparent bug when doing a thread search, then clicking on a thread from the results and then hitting the back button to see other results, unless there is already a fix that I am not aware of.

In FireFox I always get the prompt "The page you are trying to view contains POSTDATA that has expired from cache" and I have to hit OK or Cancel each time, and in Internet Explorer I get a dead page with the message "Warning: Page has Expired."

Opera is the only browser which seems to work okay, but that is not my default browser. I can also get around it by opening up the links in tabs using FireFox but it'd be nice if I didn't have to do that all the time.

I'd like to see for new threads in the message bases that don't specify the language (Newcomers Corner, 3 Dimensional Chat, and 2D All The Way) a radiobutton that has "Darkbasic Classic" "Darkbasic Enhanced" and "Darkbasic Pro". It won't let the user post the new message until he/she pushes one of those choices. So we won't have to ask which one their using. And add that choice somewhere in the message... like under "Posted" so we see what language it's for before we even read the message.

And just like last time this was talked about (when I was here)... I'd like to see a new addition to the stats to the left of each persons messages... Languages: xxxxxxx.

Open the threads in a new tab. For example, if you search for "physics" you'd get a list of threads with that in the title. Then any particular thread you want to read can be opened in a new tab. When you've read it just close that tab and you've still got the original list of phyics threads in the first tab.

It would appear I've been bitten by the coding bug yet again...

Just to clear things up, I didn't mean things like banning people and stuff, but maybe from your thread, and maybe you could delete your own thread if you wanted without waiting for another mod to do it.

Actually it is kind of a bug, since there are ways around this issue which most sites implement

EDIT: Don't quote me on this though. I'm 80% positive there is a way around this; but it depends entirely how Apollo functions

How about Code appears in the same colour format in DBP when typed into the forum.

Like:

Make object cube 1,10 will appear in blue etc to make it easier for people to read when someone is giving help.

I dont know if thats possible though, dont know anything about building websites.

I don't really like the Flash applet that's being used to display images on these forums. All it does is mess up the scrolling region, and make the image take longer to appear. The Latest Post button is good, but I noticed that clicking on Latest Post when there are no new posts takes me to a rather boring page acting as a prompt. I would rather have it just be a generic pop-up prompt. Would save download time and not look so bare-bones.

If you use the "latest post" button when there's new posts on the last page and the page before, it just shows the first post on the first page.

Also, sometimes if you view a thread using the "latest post" button and then use the browser back button to return the the thread list, the "latest post" button will remain and the thread won't be marked as read.

All forums are like that, silly. When you hit the back button, it doesn't redo all the script things, so it still appears unread with the Latest Post link.

I agree... Also if you want to continue reading the thread while the image is loading or refer back to the image, it's a pain. I liked the old popup better.

MMmmm I'm pretty happy with the current state of the forums. It would be nice to have a post icon that lets you know that you've posted in a thread, like a dot on the folder (not every forum does this, but it's real nice). All it would take is an inner join or two in the SQL query and maybe 5 more icons.

Edit no I take that back. I do not like the page dropdown box. It just seems like such an odd way to display the pages. And I don't really like how the newest post / last page links were implemented. I love the functionality, but I wish it was done more like phpBB ( http://www.delvarworld.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=1 ) where there are little icons next to the OP's username that you can click on to bring you to the newest post. The links next to the title of every thread kind of make everything a bit cluttered.

Edit: Ok, also, for the love of crap, auto parse the links! Use PHP, search for http:// , search from there to a space or a comma, take that string, and make it the URL and autoparse URL tags around it. This is the only forum I've been on that doens't do it automatically. It really bothers me.

Mine was doing that too, however since upgrading to the latest IE7 and getting all the updates ... it seems to be working here now.
