Hey, I have nothing at all against people who like lower resolutions. It's just that if I have a large monitor, I like to take advantage of the space on it, and 1600x1200 just happens to be what my monitor is best at running. It's not like me saying "I can't stand anyone who drives anything other than a Ferrari", but instead, "I
personally can't stand driving anything but a Ferrari." But I have a Chevy truck, not a Ferrari, so that analogy doesn't matter.
When I design websites, I make sure they look good on at least 1024x768 on up. I even make honest attempts to make it look good on 800x600. When I'm at work tomorrow, I'll look at what percentages use what resolutions. I agree though that 1024x768 is by far the most common.
Good performance is better than a good excuse.
