I'm thinking of selling on my spare desktop (probably on eBay) but not sure what sort of price I'd be able to fetch for it cause it's not exactly high-end, but performance wise it's capable of running everything thrown at it without any problems.

Details
• AMD Semperon 2800+ Processor with 1MB Cache (overclocked to 3400+)
• 2x256 (512MB) Kingston HyperX DDR 333 (PC2700) CL2.5 (2.5.3.6-1)
• 256MB ATi Radeon X1600 PRO VIVO/DVI/TV/HD-OUT AGP8x
• 120GB ATA (133Mbps) 7200rpm Hitachi Deskstar 16MB Cache
• 8x (Lite-On) DVD-R, 48x Multi-Format (Creative) CDRW
• Integrated 5.1 6 Channel Surround (AC'97 - Stereo 40watt Speakers with built-in Equilizer)
• Fast 1Gbit Ethernet LAN
• CTX 17" CRT VGA(HD-15) Monitor capable of 2x1K@75Hz Resolutions
• Water Cooling Installed (Graphics Card, Chipset, and Processor)
• Microsoft Comfort Curve Keyboard + IntelliMouse 3.0 both Wired USB
• Microsoft Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2
• Microsoft Office 2003 Professional
• Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Standard
• Microsoft Windows Vista Ready Certified (RC1 Premium Installed)
• 500Watt PSU (32dB)

I was thinking of also selling:
• Mustek USB 1200dpi A4 Flatbed Scanner
• Lexmark Z12 USB/LPT Printer
• Genius A6 Penwizard USB Tablet w/Pen

try and sell it as a home/student package.
can also pre-load most of my game library that doesn't require a CD, like X2, Chronicles of Riddick, Tomb Raider - Angel of Darkness, etc.

Dunno what would make it seem like a sweeter deal and distract from the fact the monitor is a CRT and the processor is only a Semperon. With all of these dual-core systems now out, it's difficult to know if anyone would want it; and if i'd end up making a huge loss after just splashing out £110 for the new graphics card for it.

So what would you guys suggest?
(before anyone asks, yes the Microsoft software installed have legitimate licensed keys and have already been activated online with the license stickers on the top of the stack)

they keyboard and mouse are brand new, the entire system was re-formated and reinstalled just before I moved as well as the stack being cleaned to look like new again.
another issue that might be a problem (not sure though) is the water cooling solution just kinda sits at the bottom of the case, as the case doesn't support where it would normally be screwed to.

so what do you reckon?

Dunno. Personally I just collect PC's and consoles like an elephant's graveyard I'm off to live in Cyprus (woop) at the end of november and am managing to shed off a few older PCs. I think I'm going to have fun with a hammer (honest; apparently it's the "only" way).

Heh, just when I trimmed things down a little the company is giving me two PC's for work. So I'll have 5 PC's and two laptops (dumped another on my parents thank god) in my office. Goad. KVM switches are rubbish with wireless apparently so I've got 5 wireless desktops (lots of cupboards). Just ordered a few 10 socket surge protectors. Think I'll be needing them. Dreading electric bill. Plus static electricty in single room.... Hopefully code on veranda. Oh yes....

Cheers

I am 99% probably lying in bed right now... so don't blame me for crappy typing

hey Dazzag put those pc's on ebay and I will try and buy them.=D

I would buy that pc for $700 most. The processor knocks the value down to much...

i was afraid the processor would be the biggest issue.
problem is that both mobo i have for it use SocketA, so there's not a-lot of room for upgrade wise.

the figure i was thinking about was ~£650-700 for all that though, so if i could get that it would be great. just need to talk to my step-mom about this cause she has the computer right now (dad said he'd "caretake" it, no doubt plays Doom3 non-stop on it) see what she thinks.

might check out eBay and see what similar systems are going for.

I'd be amazed if you got £650 for that spec box I'm afraid.

I built a PC for my sister-in-law the other week and it had twice the memory, twice the HD space, an Athlon 64 AM2 3500, 16x DVDR, wireless networking + cordless keyboard/mouse set, lovely Antec case, ASRock Alive motherboard and was only £400 (inc. VAT) - and that's every single item being brand new. Even adding a 17" LCD wouldn't take that above £550.

I would recommend perhaps trying to sell off some parts on their own. The scanner, printer, etc, probably the monitor too. Then see what you can get on ebay for the system itself. On ebay having a fully licensed copy of Windows included *will* help you, but not to the tune of a few hundred quid
