What music do you listen to while you work, code, model, compose..well, guess you don't listen to music if your composing.

I'm listening to the Cowboy Bebop soundtrack atm, i usually listen to rock or something, but when i need inspiration, i'll listen to a compile of music i've made of various rpg orchestrated music.

WHat are you listening to right now? and what do you usually listen too while you work?

I'm currently listening to R.E.M - "It's the end of the world as we know it". Its a tad random, and isn't my usual kind of tunage; I usually listen to quite a bit of Muse and Coldplay

I often listen to quite a bit of Jazz and fusion too

While coding I like to listen to "fast" Metal, because it somehow increases my "code dumping" speed.

However, I have to be completely silent when reading, studying or writing.

I have the most diverse music taste I know. The only thing I don't like is Death Metal and most American crap (ie. crap rappers and crap female hip hop artists)

Favourites are The Arcade Fire, Eels, The Libertines, Oasis, Stone Roses and Bob Dylan.

At the moment I'm listening to Dave Brubeck and Nina Simone quite a lot. Also love The Streets and Dizzee Rascal.

But basically anything good, and I'll like it.

[offtopic] Is this new or did i just notice that if you type a message all in caps you get a message that says "TURN YOUR CAPS LOCK OFF"?

Right this second? - KoRn, Counting on me. But I tend to listen to Tool, Pearl Jam, KoRn, SOAD, Faith No More... Tool is probably my favourite band for working to though, just seems to get your mind tumbling along (and you don't get distracted by elaborate chair-dances, not that I do that of course).

Anything that I like that doesn't distract me, I've been known to listen to whilst working:

Children of Bodom
Opeth
Metallica
Damien Rice
Dream Theatre
Nightwish
Symphony X
Stratovarius
In Flames
Insomnium
Nine Inch Nails
Threshold
At the Gates
Sinergy
Tool
Dark Tranquillity
Byzantine
Bob Marley
Black Label Society
Beatallica (Satire of Metallica)

But during philosophy I brought in a Mix CD of Opeth, Children of Bodom, Slayer and such like to bring a bit of brutalness to the lesson, the teacher skipped the Children of Bodom Britney Spears cover, ba***rd, its a good track I got a nice reaction though, they all new I liked that sort of thing, so it wasn't such a big reaction.

That tends to happen when rather than keeping your thought to your head you speak them into a microphone and large amplifiers for the world to hear, to be honest mate, I didn't want to know why you like to secretly wear women's clothing on weekends, that was rather disturbing and I know disturbing, he's called Daryl.

I have tried several times to listen to the Ricky Gervais show while at work, but have a hard time paying attention to their talking when I'm programming. This is saddening as I don't have much time at home to listen to it either

when I'm coding like to listen to :

Boards of Canada, Autechre, Aphex Twin, Sigur Ros, Air, Jean Nine, Helios, Orbital, Nightmares On Wax, Cabaret Voltaire, Fini Tribe, Meat Beat Manifesto, Peace Orchestra, Afro Celt Sound System and a shed load of other electronica, ambient and world stuff.

singing generally distracts me when coding, unless its in a language i don't understand, then I have no problem with it.

when i'm not coding, or doing other things, i'll listen to anything that's had a bit of thought put into it.

I listen to music according to mood.

I like Black Eyed Peas, Pantera, any "kwazy" techno music I can find, and to conclude, a touch of classical.

Just got Kasabian's new album today and it's the absolute mutts nuts. And I'm not talking your pathetic little dry roasted peanuts either, I'm talking hand roasted brazilian nuts covered in dark chocolate and dusted with cocoa powder. It'S THAT good.

It would appear I've been bitten by the coding bug yet again...

Switches but my current faves are My Chemical Romance, Evanescence, Slipknot and Muse, all of their new albums, hehehe.

Quote: "Well they encourage all complete cooperation,
Send you roses when they think you need to smile.
I can\'t control myself because I don\'t know how,
And they love me for it honestly, I\'ll be here for a while.

So give them blood, blood, gallons of the stuff!
Give them all that they can drink and it will never be enough.
So give them blood, blood, blood.
Grab a glass because there\'s going to be a flood!

A celebrated man amongst the gurneys.
They can fix me proper with a bit of luck.
The doctors and the nurses they adore me so,
But it\'s really quite alarming because I\'m such an awful f***. (Oh thank you!)

I gave you blood, blood, gallons of the stuff,
I gave you all that you can drink and it has never been enough.
I gave you blood, blood, blood,
I\'m the kind of human wreckage that you love."

Nopeh, its My Chemical Romance, a hidden song on Welcome To The Black Parade, song 14. You have to wait 1min 30secs before the song starts, i got iTunes so i knew it was there when i imported the album and then skiped though it 20 secs at a time to find it. Best thing on the album if you ask me and currently my fave song.
