The US and UK are as well there was a BBC article about it a few weeks ago... it's not just Second Life either, it's all games that you can transfer real money to and from.

Their reasons are sensible, because technically these games are trying to get around the laws that govern banking websites.
Why should Second Life and Neotopia get around these laws when PayPal and Egg aren't allow to?

I agree with the concept in the games, as it helps MMO games of this nature; but then again it also means that people can make money without having to work. So they can currently still claim benifits and get around the fraud system doing it. Not many players do it, but think about what would happen if they did.

If I did play these games, I would obviously be doing it on behalf of my company, thus my initial investment in the game and my overtime would have to be offset.

Whose says playing games at work is a bad thing!

Yah, this is a little bit unsettling. The majority of people who play SL are not raking in the money--- only the select top percentile (like Anson Cheung who apparently clears 6 figures a year).
