Anyone here have a MAME Cabinet? My Dad was looking at getting a Pac-man, Galaga, etc. style arcade machine, when I told him to stop being so foolish and go MAME. I told him about this before (he showed me MAME like 5 years ago, so I have to give him credit). We could set it up (and have the spare PC to do so), but I don't know where to get the wooden cabinet. Anybody have a credible website (preferably USA).

Thanks,
The Man of Mattness

you should also look around for 2nd hand machines at auction houses.

A friend of the family converted a 3/4 standup with a pc inside.
it looked exactly like a public console but had about 100 mame games in it.

Mattman,
Where are you from? There are 3 or 4 companies in my city that sell old cabinets in different states of repair. Look in your Yellow Pages to see if you can find something similar.

I am seriously considering building my own cabinet. There a tons of tutorials on the net. It could be a really fun project!

Good luck!

Wha? Just build your own.

Here's a link to a guy that built his own. He has plans and shows how he did it.

It gets a little complicated with the controls but you can buy premade controls and just drop them into the cabinet.

Yeah I made my own MAME cabinet from scratch. It was a VERY fun project, took about 2 months of spare time.

Very nice looking!

What did you use as a monitor? Is it just a television? That is what I have been investigating first.

Yeah I used a TV, if you go that route make sure you use one that has an S-Video input. Using a standard composite input looks like ass. If I had to do it over I'd probably get one of those nifty arcade monitors from Happ controls that have a SVGA input.
