I thought this was a pretty good discussion about next-gen gaming that avoiding falling into fanboyism.

They're pretty even handed, so fanboys of any system probably won't like it, but for everyone else, it's interesting viewing:

Part 1
Part 2

I think maybe in the end Sony comes out looking worse, but I agreed with pretty much all the reasons.

I'll watch it sometime when my parents aren't home, I'm not sure they'd be the biggest fans of the background.

Very interesting. The one guy does seem to like bashing Sony though a bit too much, but other than that there are some interesting points and views.

I agree with the comments about mega budgets for games now ($40 million+) and the fact that they only seem to lead to games which have already been tried and proved to be popular, i.e. lots of sequels and no new concepts. I think what they did skim over though was the fact that this could be beneficial to the smaller software houses or even bedroom developers who deliberately make innovative software and try out brand new ideas. If people want something different and new they will end up having to buy something made by the small guys - which is great.

I think the industry is screaming for sellable ideas after looking at the first movie, and some fresh blood.

Yeah I was surprised the Naughty Dog guy was quite anti-Sony. He didn't say anything that wasn't true, he just never mentioned any of the good points of PS3.

Probably fell out with them over Crash Bandicoot or something...

Really? I can't hear an accent.

The shows were interesting, but there wasn't really anything new. I wholeheartedly agree with what they said about developers not adding extra features to PS3 versions of games. Considering there will be about 400,000 consoles sold on launch, it is simply not economical to spend the extra cash. Some big games will not even come out at all this round for PS3 because of the small customer base (fact).

I agree there wasn't that much new.

I hadn't thought about what they said about Sony never not being the dominant hardware manufacturer, before, I thought that was a good point.

Also, surprised that they all said Sony had no chance online...
