I don't have the CD but I listened to some of it on the way home from my friend's house, it's hilarious in Weasel Stomping day when you can hear the "weasels" necks snapping

I haven't got it yet but it's on my list of important things to buy. Weird Als music is the only music I listen to.

If I hurt my knuckles when I punch you in the face... if I break my leg when I'm robbing your place... I'm gonna sue, sue ... ya I'm gonna sue... sue,sue... ya I might even sue you!

The wonders that Weird Al brings into this world!

Good CD, but I liked Poodle Hat much more. Something about "Hardware Store" got me.

its the same for cover bands, there is no problem creating your own version of a song as long as you dont sample any exact pieces of music its fine. copyright free.

Weird Al has said in interviews that he still gets permission from bands, even though he's not required to do so. This helps him build and establish good relationships with record labels.

What I hate is that some of the artists give permission... Weird Al does all the work on making a song and video... then the artist says "No I didn't give him permission." Al needs to get permission in writing so he can prove how wishy-washy some of the artists are.

Except its probably not the artists who say no, its their labels.

Thats what happened with "Pitiful" Al had the artists permission but the label said no. Though Al could have released the song anyway without permission he decided to make it a free song for download to keep his label from pissing off the other.

Untrue, Al gets away with it under a certain set of parody laws, but you can not just go out and release your own version of "Born to be Wild" without paying royalties, the lyrics and music are both protected. If you change all the words and the music though its fine, of course it is now an original and would bear no resemblance to the song you are covering. This is assuming you mean recording the song if you mean just covering the tune live then you can play it note for note and are not even required to acknowledge the original author and there is nothing they can do about it.
