Just watched Da Vinci Code. The bloke on the bus (completely different scene to the book BTW) uses my phone (Sony W850i I believe...). Whoop. Sort of...

Cheers

Hard to crack.

I lay upon my bed one bright clear night, and gazed upon the distant stars far above, then I thought... where the hell is my roof?

That depends how religious you are. I'm Catholic so I'm offended by it....but since we can't talk about religion, let's get back on topic please.

You have gotten a lot of advice. Time for you to decide if its worth the money in the long run. I don't use my iPod much, because I do most of my work from home, so I have great speakers hooked up to my PC. But, I do not regret buying an iPod. It's very nice to just sit in your backyard on a nice day watching a movie, and falling asleep to metal. I have all the Milk Paton episodes, i.Robot, a few family guy episodes on my iPod too. I would recomend getting one, but thats just my advice.

Yes, even though I have gotten a lot of of advice and I am getting an iPod(ordering tonight) we still can't talk about religion. It's in the rules.

I'll take a pass this time, the mere thought of 'falling asleep' to something that is traditionally energetic and incredibly loud seems to rupture the very fabrics of time and space. I'm quite convinced that if such an act were possible, you may indeed create some type of reverse black hole in the process, sucking our world into oblivion.

Interesting thought... Well, it has happened to me once, I was in my backyard, in my boat, and I played a Disturbed album (no idea why, don't really like their stuff) and fell asleep...well.. Maybe I fell asleep to it because I thought it was boring...? I may never know...odd...

I don't think I would LET myself fall asleep to metal... would totally screw up my dreams, because I find that real world sounds often get translated into your dreams. It's happened to me a number of times, and It's really weird when you wake up and realize that sound you were hearing was real.

Thats why I normally fall asleep to kinds of music I normally don't like as much as one kind, that way you focus on it and nothing else, and you begin to like it. At least thats how it is for me. I'm...different...

The only thing I like to have on when I fall asleep is the TV. It's more calming and less distracting. It's like "white noise".

It's alright. I mean it follows most of the book pretty correctly. It's just it's missing something. Hanks seems to be acting from the Keanu school of emotional acting ("Oh no I'm on the run from the police. Oh well..." type attitute), and the bird isn't much better. Zero chemistry between the two as well. As for the religious angle, well meh; it's a story. Thats about it.

See that's where the conflict is. Dan Brown "claims" that his story is fiction, but the beliefs in his story can be traced but to ancient Gnostics who actually did believe what his story is about. And since I'm Catholic it offends me that Mr. Brown says that the Catholic church has been hiding secrets about Jesus and Mary Magdalin. Which is not true.

So when he says "it's just a book", that might not always be the case. Some people actually start to question if what Dan Brown says is true or not because of the historical relevance.

(I have a whole book on why the beliefs in the Da Vinci Code are not fiction to some people at all.)

The movie can not be changed, so even discussing it really is pointless. By the way, did (if) you buy your iPod through iTunes? If you do you can have them engrave a message onto the back of it.

Whatever. It's a book, a work of fiction. If people take it any other way then they are stupid. Otherwise all this "freedom of speech" stuff means nothing.

iTunes? Dunno about that but the ones I have bought were through Apple store. And yes they were engraved. Nice (and free), but it can take a lot longer to get it. Plus when a Nano had a hardware problem under warranty they cocked up the engraving (they engrave a new one again) on a single quote (came out as a weird symbol). Spent half an hour explaining the correct character to Indian support and it came back exactly the same. Eventually balled down the phone to them saying how I wanted my money back (you cannot have your money back after something like 3 months, even though I only had it for 2 weeks and it had been in support for the remaining time as it took about 3 weeks to come back each time). They then said they would put it in priority support and I got it back in correct condition a day later.

Cheers

I tried to engrave something "special" into my iPod, only it said "Keep you language cleen" or something similar. I though "Let me put what I want on my iPod, its not like anyone is going to really care...". But really, why does Apple care what peoples iPod's say on the back of them? It wouldn't hurt their business. It actually probably hurts their business not letting people put mildly explicit messages on their iPods..

Oh yes I know it's "fiction" but since it attacks my religion is what makes me mad. And yes, the people who take it the wrong way are idiots. What it says is blasphemous. Anyway...

Yeah I got my iPod engraved.

I just had my first and last name on the top line and my phone number on the second line. Not too exciting but comes in handy if I lose it and the person who finds it is kind enough to return it.

Good lok with that. My iPods have always had the same things written, name, phone #, but the time I lost my shuffle, I have some kid call my, and tell me he had my iPod....but it never was returned.

I've fallen asleep listening to Slipknot, it's not any harder than other music, it depends on how tired you are and if you like the music or not.

And furthermore, this post doesn't deserve to be locked, so let's all drop it.

Edit: whoa, I should have refreshed... I went away for a bit halfway through posing this. Well It probably doesn't mater anymore.

Sigh. And I had a good books that are works of fiction comeback too... nevermind...

Oh, and you should be perfectly happy with an iPod. And you should be with most of the other players too really (not HP, they suck). End of subject essentially...

Cheers
