And are over 25, welcome to the world of ultrasonics...
Look after your ears - you've still got the hearing of a teenager!

n.b. At 31, I'd miss it completely if I wasn't trying to hear for it.

I have an XP3000+, 1.5gb DDR333, a 6600GT and I'm programming 3k text-based exe's?!

That's a horrid sound. It would give me a headache in a very short space of time.

And go me and my teenager abilities.

I can hear it... it's not really a "hear it" as in ZOMG TURN THAT OFF! but more of an "ears ringing" sound.

Did you hear the talking or just the "ear ringing" noise?

I heard a very high pitched 'squeaking' noise running throughout the recording.

Wouldn't speaker/headphone quality also have some effect on whether you can hear it?

Old warez. There's a site where you can test different frequencies of sounds to see how 'high' you can still hear. Not sure where it is now, but I'm sure I've posted it before.

I could hear the mosquito ringtone, and I'm over 25. Of course, you do know that it started because shops were playing the sound outside to stop teenagers from lurking in the carparks and intimidating customers I assume.

33. I herd what sounded to be traffic, laughter and talking in the background, the occasional squeek that may be breaks of a car, 3 low bangs that sounded to be a hammer to nail effect. But no high pitched noise.

I forgot! But yes, I do remember it now, my apologies to youthful ears.

Sounds a bit like the quiet whine from CRT screen to me, but slowly modulated & not unpleasant. Hawkeye's 'ears ringing' (with the street's background noise) is a good way of putting it.

Tinkergirl: At the other end of the sonic spectrum, you may er... 'enjoy' Googling "33hz"

I heard it, and I spend most my time next to 8x12 stack of guitar cabinets in a room with other instruments x.x I'm surprised that I havent lost my hearing yet, let alone my teenage hearing.

ow... It was so high pitched, I barely noticed it. I could only feel waves of discomfort coming from my ears to my brain. Ow..

Just a few days ago, I found a high pitched mp3 that teenagers used as a ringtone that adults can't hear, but it was low enough to hear it, unlike this one where you just feel it.

Here's a hearing demonstration I found not too long ago. It has alot of neat things like what it sounds like to have hearing loss and some other things like that. Its definitely worth listening to.

I heard it just fine, annoying squeek all the way through. But then again, I can hear the frequency of a monitor running from another room. Creepy.
I'm almost 24.

Same here except I'm 26. What I hate worse than the monitor left on in the other room is a TV left on with no signal to it. That high pitch drives me crazy. If someone leaves one on while I'm sleeping, I'll get up and hunt it down to turn it off. Strangely enough though 3 alarm clocks going off right by my head don't budge me.

I can hear it. It's quite a familiar sound, I think there are some devices that unintentionally emit the sound..

I didn't hear it, and I'm 17. However, at least two generations of my male ancestors have gone deaf (Dad/Granddad), so I'm actually a bit worried...

I find the worst is when you walk into a shop selling TV's and there's banks of them on both sides of the aisle, muted but emittting that horrible whine.

I just have to get out. Can't stand it - I don't even go in any more. Yuck.

It's amazing how many people do listen to their mp3 players at full blast. Quite often I'll be on the train and be able to audibly hear music coming from someone's earphones sitting a few meters away. You have to wonder whether those people realise they'll be completely deaf in 5 years.

Umm, I could hear it just fine, and I can't imagine that noise keeping me from doing something I wanted to do if it was worth my time... I dunno, it's slightly annoying, but not a big deal at all...
