When I play an mp3 file on my mp3 player, the quality is worse than when I play it on the computer. Is this always true?

what kind of mp3 player do you have?
what kind of speakers are you listening with on your mp3 player. ($2 discount ones?)

what are you using to listen to the song on your computer?
I prefer winamp by choice.

your computer may be using a better equalizer then what's on your player.
your player might be reducing sound to save battery life.

earbud speakers vs full sized speakers will always come under par.

what bit rate and format is the file in question?

eg mp3 128 or 96 / aac 128 /96 / ogg 96 etc..

I highly doubt it, when I transfered my music from my PC to my iPod it didn't make a difference, but I don't know about what MP3 player you use, it'll prolly be the same though.

I'm using a flash based player, the brand is Benss. I'm using the earbud phones which came with it. I use windows media player on my computer. I use mp3 with bitrates between 128-320. If the bitrate is anywhere below 200, sometimes the volume of the mp3 is too low, the song is distorted, or there's a garbling noise in the background. I downloaded most of my songs from limewire. Thanks for helping.

Limewire is the problem. Do yourself a favor and buy the songs.
