Hi, Just downloaded and installed Dark Basic Pro 6.2. Working through the help file, ran the ubiquitous 'Hello World" program OK but then typed in the rotating box code:

And just get an error message:
"The application or DLL CDOCUME~1\Nick\LOCALS~1\Temp\dbpdata9\DBProImageDebug.dll is not a valid windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette."
Then a Dr Watson error. I'm running XP Pro SP 2 and have installed the Oct 2006 distro of DirectX 9. I'm guessing this is some sort of configuration error on my PC but any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Yeugh... This can't be good.

Inside the temporary folder thar (c:\documents and settings\[User]\Temp\*) is where a DBP program unpacks the files it needs; DBP programs are not made 'compressed' as such, as merely 'packed'.

Now, the two obvious problems that could be happening are:
1. Your DBP install is damaged; DBProImageDebug.dll is corrupt inside your current DBP install, and when it's compiled into the final program it's still corrupt
2. You have some kind of tool running in the background that automatically cleans up the Temp folder (i.e. deleting the unpacked files automatically).

Variants of #2 could be a virus, trojan, oddly set user permissions, etc.

If i may ask...

- Could you use the 'compile' button in the DBP ide to make an EXE, then post it here? (That way we can at least see if it's just your computer )
- If your main user account isn't just a straight Administrator-type, what type are you running as? Have you/someone else fiddled with the permissions on either the user or the Temp folder at any point?
- How much free disk space do you have? RAM?
- Do you have any 'security' programs installed on your computer that could be intefering?

Thanks, and it's a pity to hear that DBP isn't working for you out-of-the-box

Also, if you have the time try reinstalling/downloading the whole setup again from the checkout basket thing* and reinstalling. It could just be a one off.

* = not sure how TGC online buying works...
