I'm with you Big Man. I think it's pretty stupid to camp outside for something, what does it matter if you get something the day it's released or a month after it's released? It's not something I'd consider doing - I think my PC can amuse me for the next few years.

Surely something like the Wii couldn't be that important to you, and if it is I would have thought you'd have questioned what's important in your life.

I was going to camp for the Wii, but as of now there are no lines anywhere, and my local target is expecting 51 units, so Im just getting there early tommorow.

Back by unpopular demand!
Battle Legacy has gone MMORPG! Nah, Im just kidding. But seriously, check the WIP

People camp out because it's pretty cool to be the first to get something new. I say go for it if you've got the patience/ free time. When the PS2 was launched several years ago, me and a few of my college chums waited around for a full day in line at a local Circuit City to get the new console, amongst about a hundred other people, and I was lucky enough to get one (that console lasted me until about a month ago when I had to replace it with a new PS2). So I say break out the smores and your DS and bring some blankets because it's freezing outside

I can see how it would be fun to do if you did it with a bunch of friends. But personally I don't think I'd ever do it unless I was going to be the first person there and guaranteed the item I was waiting for. 100's of people were camping outside Best Buy for PS3, and there were only 20 units in stock. Did the people at the back think they even had a chance? Have fun if you do it, and take a camera, you might see some funny people dressed up like Mario or Link or something.

I went to the 3rd showing of Pirates Of The Carribean 2 Dead Man's Chest at 12:15AM (pre-bought tickets so no major waiting), and there were tons of people dressed up like Jack Sparrow and stuff, was pretty cool.

Actually I'm not buying one, my two friends are buying them and asked me to go along just for fun. We're not doing it to be the first ones to have something, just doing something to have fun. We're kind of a crazy bunch, we do random things all the time. I think it will be a good time.

It's more of a reason to get together and make some memories, not stay inside all the damn time with nothing exciting to do.

Just watch out for the weather! As some of you might remember, my city had floods back in July. We had minor flash floods the night before the PS3 launch, and the scary part is, people were actually staying outside in the rain, amidst flooding, mudslides, etc., just to get their hands on a PS3. Someone forgot to ask these people a pivitol question: How can you enjoy your new console if you're dead?

At any rate, have fun! And yes, please take some pictures of people dressed up as Dink mentioned. Those are always cool

Not true. It can take over a year for a console price to drop (360's the same price after over a year).

Didn't the xbox 360 used to be rediculously expensive before it dropped by like £100. Or am I thinking about about the original xbox?

how so CR? Were crazy kids but we've known each other for almost 11 years. Memories are seldom heart warming with us. Just something to tell your kids about you know?

Speaking of which CR, your kids learning C# yet?

Our daughter is almost nine months old now - damn, time flies! She's not quite at the c# stage yet, but damn, she is a lil clever one thus far, if I do say so me-self. Soon enough I guess, no rush She's just about getting the hang of talking and walking

Don't do it to get the console first! Do it for the adventure, the comradship and to get piles from the hard concrete floor! Piles help remind you you're alive. Nothing else has the same effect.

You know the beautiful thing of purchasing anything from GAME, is I can go online; give my details, pre-order a console - let's for arguement sake say the Wii.

Then without waiting in a queue, for ages in the cold/wet/etc. I can wake up on Dec 7th (day prior to it's official release) and know that because I pre-ordered the day that online customers were able to, that I am guarenteed to have my Nintendo Wii delivered right to my door that morning.

Go figure being able to beat lines and potencial sell-outs by simply using that miricle technology called the internet and credit card. :p

I highly doubt you'd get your console in the mail the day before it's out, or even the day of. Most likely it'll arrive the next day or later.

I agree. Why would a distributor like Sony or Nintendo favor an online site over a physical store when online sales are slow in comparison?
