Someone showed this to me earlier today and it's on the regional news now so I just thought some of you sexy people might be interested (although I'm sure the majority have already seen it).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sl7sV98QgfE

If you can't watch the vid I'll give you the gist. It's some people dressed as Robin Hood and his band of Merry Men (hailing from Yorkshire, yay, big up the Yorkshire massive etc etc) who went to New York and basically threw money into the air.

It could be argued that it was a stupid and irresponsible thing to do and they would have been better off giving the money to charity. Although I agree that there are more responsible ways to give away money I still think it's great.

What are your thoughts?

EDIT:: There's also a myspace and website dedicated to it:
www.myspace.com/moderndayrobinhood
www.moderndayrobinhood.com

It would appear I've been bitten by the coding bug yet again...

Greedy people, well assuming that he's a modern robin hood, I guess he stole the money from someone like Bill Gates But generous guy, but money could have been better spent, as you said like to a charity or doing something for the community rather than give to people who have enough money and are just being greedy, but it was his money and it was his choice

I'm surprised it made the national news tbh. It would've been mental if they were giving out $10 or even $100 bills. That would've been worth seeing the hysterior! $1 bills are wishing well fodder.

I still can't believe you have $1 notes.

We have a coin that's worth four times that.

isn't your inflation problem bad enough as it is in the US... or maybe it's been dubbed "freedomeflation", hence making it a good thing... whutever

has anyone been watching robin hood on the BBC? i think it's a really good portrayal of modern times.

I think the new robin hood is badly acted and portrays the middle ages badly, sorry but it could be a lot better, I mean some of the characters have more a more Manchester accent, in those days you wouldn't find some one in Nottingham with with a post industrial Manchester accent, most realistic programs based on historic times take the typical peasant accent and dialect, that would have been enough I didn't really feel it worked for me, I think the best Robin Hood take on was Maid Marian and her merry men, not realistic but has its modern elements, Robin hood is a vain pansy and Maid Marian is the real hero and has its comedy. Shame they stopped making them.

Correction. You have a coin that is worth 9 times that. Or don´t they make 5 pound coins anymore? They were great. I remember getting them as xmas presents. They were so big and shiny.

Rubbish! Robin Hood: Men in Tights is the only true portrayal of what went down!

You need to spend money to make money. This is a publicity stunt to get people to visit their website where they're planning to sell pixels (by the looks of it) in a similar vain to the Million Dollar Website. They've generated a lot of attention over a simple stunt that couldn't have cost more than several hundred dollars, and now the internet, the media, and word of mouth has people swarming over the video (thanks to YouTube, once again) and their website.

They probably have other revenues planned, but now that they've got the publicity (although they probably won't stop there, they'll most likely run some more stunts to generate more interest), they can quite easily make up anything they've spent. Clever.

Makes you wish you thought to do it doesn't it.. Well, actually, if you did it (or any of us) people would have looked at us funny, warily taken the money and walked off... Most likely not attracting any news attention.
