I'm still a bit pissed off, as I dont have Sky. I think I'm gonna have to just rent the first half of the 3rd series from blockybusterage when it comes out. I dont think Lost is worth owning on DVD because it's a "descovery thriller" type thing. Once you know whats going down, I dont think it'll have much replay value, but I could be wrong.

Anyway, damn Sky and their high bids. And damn channel 4 and their low budget. And damn Michelle Rodriguez for getting shot. She was finer and sweeter than caster sugar ... hey, I might use that line one day.

I don't have Sky and don't want to install any torrent proggies, but there are loads of sites you can download all 6 episodes via normal http downloads as divx files. Each episode is about 350MB and is in superb quality. I've watched first 4 episodes since the weekend and will watch last 2 tonight.

Is that legal mr spookage? I know channel 4 put them up on the CH4 website, but that was after they showed each one on E4 I believe.

Edit: Ahh, these are pay services right?

No, they are free but it's not exactly legal, so it was probably stupid of me to mention it and this topic will probably get locked now for talking about dodgy downloads, but I just had to watch them somwehow, whatever it took. If you want to wait until DVD comes out, then that's fine.

Wouldn't be the first time we've discussed LOST downloads spooky - for some people like myself there's simply no question of waiting to see what happens, and ABC's grand money grabbing tactics just enforce that more.

Pay to watch LOST, pay to see extra stuff, put up with marketing harassment, wait months because your not American, or just download the damn things . If loving LOST is illegal, then I don't want to be legal.

The way I reason it is, if you have the means to watch it when it ultimately comes out i.e. you pay your licence fee or you have cable or sky then you are paying for the service anyway so there is no harm in watching it a little early

But you could also argue that, if you don't have the means to watch it, and you have no intention of acquiring those means, then watching it on the net isn't a crime. It's like downloading MP3s of tracks you never would've bought. But anyways, dont want to start a piracy discussion or anything.

I definitely have/had Lost fever, but sinse series 2 ended a while back, I've lost it (hahahahAHAHAHAHAHHAHA ... sorry) a bit. I want to see series 3, but have no driving desperation to find it online (I can't be arsed to be honest). I do miss looking forward to my Tuesday night of 11pm E4 tele though. It used to be the only thing I'd purposely plan to watch tele for.

No, to dload an mp3 without paying for it is denying the musicians etc their cut of the profits and is theft. but to download something which you will see on television and which you have already payed for via licence fees etc, I think is justified.

likewise, thats all from me.

Yes, it's theft, but as a musician myself, if I was selling music, I would rather people pirated and listened to my music than didn't listen to it at all. To me it's more important that people listen to my music for free, than don't listen to it because they won't pay for it. I would imagine most bands would feel exactly the same way.

The problem is people who download music they would otherwise pay for. That's when you're robbing an artist of money they deserve. If the album is worth it's shop price to you, but you download it (illegally) instead, you are screwing over the artist you claim to like. My argument is that, if you would honestly never buy the album under any circumstances, then downloading the MP3s isn't bad, because the two choices from the artists perspective are (A) "No money" or (B) "No money, but someone else listening to your music". I think most musicians would choose B.

haha. I knew the "let's not discuss piracy thing" wouldn't work. I guess a mod can tell us to shut up if they feel it's out of line. Then someone else other than us can ignore that request, talk about downloading teh WaREzzz and get the thread locked.

I do agree that in certain situations any exposure is good exposure, it may not be a sale but it is letting your music reach out to a wider audience. Last.fm radio is quite good in that respect.

Fallout & VanB: I'm not agree with your sentences. I understand your feelings of course but before writing things like this, imagine how it could be interpreted... (I love DBPro, if loving DBPro is illegal, then I don't want to be legal OR would TGC rather people pirate and use DBPro than not use it at all?)

Well personally I collect box sets of important TV, like LOST - so at the end of the day I'll be paying maybe £120 in total once season 3 is done, so I doubt that I'm ripping anyone off. I'll probably re-watch it a few years after it's finished, but I know my son will love it once he's old enough to understand it.

I really don't see the correlation though between an American show that I'm gonna be downloading a couple of days before it's shown in the UK (I have cable), and ripping off a dozen or so developers. Personally I don't see watching adverts as part of my agreement when buying my TV or paying for my internet connection and cable.

The LOST guys made a ton by selling the rights to LOST to SKY, which I pay dearly for every month - but besides that, the luxury of being able to watch it as a movie file means you can rewind and pause and stuff - people are always ringing when MY programmes are on .

I am already addicted to BSG, no need for a second addiction, but people have been telling me that lost is good.
