Hi all,

Today (in the UK) was the day that Amazon were taking their Wii pre-orders. They only sold as many units as they'd been allocated by Nintendo, and guarantee a Dec. 8th delivery. They sold out their entire inventory in under 10 minutes. Apparently Amazon.com did the same in under 1 minute

I was lucky enough to be one of those who managed to bag mine. I bought the console, Wii Play and 2000 Wii points to spend. I couldn't decide between buying a Wii or a 360, but having looked at every 360 game on sale there just weren't any that interested me. They're all just so PC! I admit that GoW looks superb, as does Halo 3, but I'll wait until next year for a 360 price drop

But looking at all the Wii games lined-up and I just couldn't resist. There are some great titles on the way, and the fact it'll play my quite extensive Gamecube collection natively, was a real bonus.

I really wanted Excite Truck, but no UK release launch yet, so it can wait. I'm really waiting for Wario Ware and the new Mario game most of all. I may give Zelda a go too, but not until next year I doubt (no time to get into it). Anyway, can't wait until the 8th when it should all arrive

I was also looking at the PS3 games coming out soon, and damn there are some real beauties there! While it's still too expensive at the moment there are some gorgeous games on the way, so that might tempt me this time next year. We'll see.

I'm just wondering, is there any difference between the UK's Wii and the US's Wii? I found a UK one for preordering but all the american ones are like $500+

I trust Nintendo not to balls it up. I had no issues with my NES, SNES , N64, Gameboy, GBA or Gamecube - so I don't expect any with the Wii. Nintendo know how to make solid devices.

I preordered mine from Gamestation, but damn I spend a lot of money in there so if there's no Wii on the 8th for me then I'll be knocking some goth-shaped heads together . Unfortunately I only have 1 days holiday left till March!, so I'm not sure I should spend it in a queue, or risk going down at 4pm to find the place cleared out.

The Gamecube is fairly popular round these parts, I mean San Andreas on XBox and RE4 on Gamecube were released at about the same time, I got SA on the day it was released, but had to wait 2 weeks on RE4!.

Hey Rich, no DS! - you should rectify that immediately . There's bound to be some cross platform gaming on those machines, god only knows what the WII might be able to do with the DS besides spit game demos at it.

I just preordered my Wii from Game (in Portugal), together with Zelda.

I also had my first play in-store... I did enjoy it but it did not _quite_ meet my expectations. I had a quick go at bowling, tenis and Zelda.

The first ones were ok, although I didn't play enough to feel like wrist action mattered (the onscreen swing did follow the arm action quite well, but I am not sure the twisting did anything).

In Zelda sword swinging and fishing "reeling" felt really satisfying too. The game did look good, but unexplicably a bit more washed out that I expected. I believe the TV was slightly faulty, as there were jumbled pixels in the corner. But the game looked somewhat blurry like it was being played over a bad RF cable.

I have vague plans for World Domination

If the Wii wasn't able to run my Gamecube collection then I'd never have bought it. I see it as a 'social console' for our house, something quick and immediate that the wife and I can pick up and game with (like we do the Gamecube atm). The Wii exclusive games will make it more than worth the investment. I am not expecting anything amazing on the graphics front, it's just a souped-up Gamecube after-all, and won't come close to a 360 or PS3 (which in turn don't come close to my PC). But that's not why I bought it anyway

Van - Never bothered with the DS because I rarely play on my GBA as it is. I'm hoping they'll unleash a torrent of cool SNES classics on the Wii service so I can play them natively without emulation. Contra III, Mario World and Mario Kart here I come

Congrats, I'm just gonna wait before I get myself one, I mean I need to update myself in the world of 3D tools with LightWave, need a new computer and then perhaps a Wii. But you never know, my parents my do what they did at the Christmas after the PS 2 came out and get a Wii this time, but at the same time they may not.

Lucky, I was one of the ones that didn't get one. Checked the page and it still said pre-order would not be available until 21st, went to get food came back refreshed the page and it said they had all sold out Pre-ordered it from gameplay instead, but I highly doubt I will get it for release.
