No game is worth $100. Even a suite of games.

And by the way I'm a *gigantic* Space Quest fan. You *do* know that they recently released the complete Leisure Suit Larry set in stores, right? Has all the LL games (except maybe the recent one with his nephew).

no it does not. They left out the Laffer Utilities, Larry 7 and Larry's Casino. It sucked. it came in a cheap box and it says "runs on xp" but it only does with dosbox!

I thought larry was pretty fun at the time but I personally would never even remotely pay $100 for a collection of its games. But this is the wonder of humankind: we all love different things! And since I know how ecstatic I get when I buy some of "my" stuff I can appreciate how cool you must feel.

Nice one Zaibatsu!

I have vague plans for World Domination

When my first son was born, I was playing Lair of the Lounge Lizards at the time. After doing a 41 hour stint without sleep (my wife decided to go into labour at 11:00pm!), I came home and spent 2 hours completing the game.

How bizarre - my son is born, then I go home to make a pair of swimming trunks out of dental floss and a handkerchief to reach some babes in the middle of a swimming pool!

I'm hardly willing to spend $100 on a console, much less a game.

LSL is one of those lovable game characters who will be (and indeed is) collectable, people miss his games, even the first ones with the ropey graphics and that strange point-n-click style that we saw on 16-bits and early PC's.

Really, I'm glad theres people out there willing to pay $100 for a lump of nostalgia, I'm a collector of sorts (not a careful one if you know what I mean) - and there's some things I could never throw away. A friend dug out her old spectrum the other day and brought it round, I was getting damn near emotional just looking through the games, Robocop and all those Ocean classics. Casts your mind back to when you were a kid and these things were like gold. I can't part with my old ST magazines or games, even if I never play them again, nostalgia has a very strong influence on me.

Point and click? What game were you playing? The LSL series (and indeed the other Quest series also) were all keyboard-driven, requiring the player to type "look at (object)" and "walk left" to do anything.

No, LSL became point and click at number 4 I think. It went from Soft Porn, totally text-based, through gradually improving graphics and eventually to mouse-driven.

I'm not saying I'm a big Larry Laffer fan, but my mobile phone ringtone is the theme tune

In 2 years, only one person has correctly identified it. I can also guarantee that nobody else checks to see if it is their phone that is ringing, no run-of-the-mill Nokia branded ringtone for me!

I loved the first LSL game. I'll never forget trying to buy the condoms in the convenience store. lol
I played one after that. It wasn't the same using the mouse as it was trying to guess the correct words to type. It was still fun though...

Yah, all the Quest series migrated to point-and-click eventually. Space Quest did that at IV.
