It was I who told you to use ndiswrapper. I'm fairly sure you're reffering to a Belkin F5D6050, which is what you mentioned before. Like I said, go to the Belkin folder in C:/Program Files (On a windows PC with the drivers installed), get rt2500.sys, rt2500.cat and rt2500.inf. Copy them (By floppy, usb stick, whatever) to your linux box.

However, I don't use Suse, so I recommend that you follow this guide: http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/mediawiki/index.php/Suse_Professional_9.2, and when it tells you to do "ndiswrapper -i <inf>" do "ndiswrapper -i rt2500.inf" in a terminal, in the directory that you copied the drivers to. The guide seems pretty simply, just long winded. Take your time, and come post here if you need any help.

Hi,
I followed the steps on that tutorial very carefully, and did not come accross any error's But then mc "Midnight Command" would not load in the terminal/command i just got a command not found error so i manually edited the files listed.

I then open up firefox, and get an error:
Quote: "
An eror occured while loading http://google.com/:
uknown host"

Any ideas?
Thanks,
Alex

EDIT: It wont even let me access my router admin on the local network

Hm. It seems your card isn't what I thought it was There's a chance then it wont work with ndiswrapper, go to a terminal and type "ndiswrapper -l" with the stick plugged in, and see what it says.

Interesting on one of my win xp pc's i can see a really strange named network, which is the linux one. It is called
Quote: "G604T_WIRELESS"
also although i set as encrypted it appears not be from my win xp wireless utilty though i have not tried to connect it. It also appears to be configured as an access point.

Your question, it's installed properly
Quote: "rtf73 installed, hardware present"

Although the usb adapter has a little flashing LED on it and its not flashing i think it flashes on data transfer so..

Any ideas?
thanks,
alex

If you haven't already tried it, "modprobe ndiswrapper", and if you have the Wireless Config tools, do "iwconfig", identify which is your wireless device, and do "iwconfig <device> essid <Your Wireless Network Name> key s:<pass phrase>" without the <>'s naturally.

i got it partially working now, i removed the encryption of my network, i know thats bad security but i have got MAC address filtering so thats pretty secure!

Its working now but its not. When i open up firefox or knoquerer and goto a website i just get an error but when goto iwconfig says theres a connection:
iwconfig:
Quote: "
wlan0 IEEE 802.11g ESSID:"linksys"
Mode:Managed Frequency:2.462 GHz Access Point: 00:18:39:6A:40:44
Bit Rate=54 Mb/s Tx-Power:20 dBm Sensitivity=-121 dBm
RTS thr=2347 B Fragment thr=2346 B
Encryption key:off
Power Management:off
Link Quality:100/100 Signal level:-56 dBm Noise level:-256 dBm
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0
"

Any ideas?
Thanks
Alex

mac addresses can be spoofed in minutes
WPA is the go as well as limiting the ips.

ndiswrapper is nothing but a windows wireless driver emulator, I would suggest using madwifi if you have an Atheros chipset or any other name brand chipset for that matter... Which I would believe belkin has.

ndiswrapper drivers are kinda sketchy and usually only temporary until some solid drivers have either been made or found and set in place.
