My latest new hobby is CNC building. I just finished my first router table, and even routed a few signs/designs with it. Unfortunately, I zapped out the Z-Axis controllor on its driver board, so I'm waiting for it to get repaired so I can have it back in use again. It's great fun (except when you ruin something).

Good performance is better than a good excuse.

Listening to music
Watching TV (I especially like Scrubs, sarcasm levels high)
I like sports, like swimming and football, but really not been doing that enough recently.
Reading books, fantasy novels, and spy/thrillers aswell, then again I like Dick Francis books aswell, so I'll pretty much read anything

@Seppukiu: the way it's going now it's going to be Kanezawa's son who succeeds him, isnt he the only person other than Kanazawa who can grade black belts, even though he's only 6th or 7th dan?

I enjoy mountain biking and power kiting by way of sports. -video of friends powerkiting-

by way of pc games, i currently play bf2142 and guild wars, and mapplestory from time to time.

by way of TV, mythbusters is about the only thing I watch on it, unless theres a good film on (as long as its on the BBC so i dont have to put up with adverts) or a one off documentary. I also watch lost, but i download the episodes rather than wait for british tv to catch up.

when i have a spare moment, i like to read international news, for example I have DPRK, lebanese star, CNN and reuters in my favourites, in order to get the "other side's" point of view about global issues, and also to find things out that our media doesn't tell us.

I also have an interest in ancient->dark age history (which admittedly started from playing age of empires), which is a shame, since schools only teach from the 1500's onwards, the precise moment in time that history turned boring, hence I cant express my interest in it.

i dont have a favourite book, i have some issue, (some teachers at school reckon it's dyslexia, the nurse says it isnt) that means that I have to concentrate so hard when i'm reading, i simply dont enjoy it, and I often find that after reading a few pages, I feel exhausted and want to go to sleep.

favourite subject in school is economics, i play guitar, have played piano, violin and saxophone, want to get a set of bagpipes, really enjoy music, any kind as long as its not slow/depressing/boy-bandish, or "shoutty shoutty about satan until my lungs bleed" crap.

that all said, i actually spend most of my time dreaming about touring the world, seeing it with my own eyes, not a tv camera's.

I completely forgot about AV equipment. Probably because I'm too broke, or rather in debt, to even think about buying anything. But I enjoy setting up surround sound and my dad and I have built a few subwoofers. Fun stuff. Two words: bass shakers

Well I don't know how the black belt gradings work in terms of who, but I don't see Kanazawa coming to England every April for our black belt gradings and then other places that do Shotokan as well, I'm thining its the Shihan of each association that grade black belts (I'll be able to clarify that in April if I got for my 1st Dan), they probably will appoint his son, but I don't know, I think they try to keep everything Japanese, but the successor for a certain Ninja group was English, but logically I would think Van Weenan would get it, I mean he's an 8th Dan and one hell of a teacher.

Quote: "That makes two of us."

Yup, its him who made me want to check out the Bushman tribe for a gap year, but I'm at the point where I'm think yes or no to a gap year, it has its good points and its bad points, but I'd better not take too long to decide, I do need to send my application form. Also, one of his visits to an island off the coast of Australia was useful to help me argue to points, one from Marx, the other from Durkheim and Kant in my philosophy essay, go Mr Mears.

I've got that too... but it's not because it's a hobby. My wife tends to not take dishes back into the kitchen.

If I'm not programming I'm playing games (right now I'm playing Freelancer online) or watching TV (mostly sci-fi). Every Friday I make my own pizza (I just started making my own about a month ago)... so I guess cooking is a new hobby. Before making my own pizza I could boil water REAL good.

Oh right, fair enough, I know he's been down doing his courses a few times (perhaps he does that once a year too ), I've been meaning to go to one of those.

Quote: "I havent been training for a number of years due to college, injury, and laziness, but as far as I know he's still down every year."

Ah I see, I've been missing a lot of lessons because of my A-Levels, but I'm still going for my Black belt, I mean if Shihan Van Weenan asks me about attempting it in a positive light, then that must mean I should go, considering in the next school year I'll be going to uni, which won't work out.

Quote: "Damn right Seppuku! But don't worry I will be emailing you all shortly about major changes."

Cool, sorry about not doing much, 3 coursework and an exam resit in January and other studies. As final deadlines are nearing, I should be able to get some stuff over Christmas, one coursework has passed 2/3 draft deadlines, another is 2/4 and the other has its first in 3 weeks

Wow! I'm surprised you have even heard of that. Not many people have. It is growing rapidly though. We have 10 acres of land so my dad build a disc golf course that is hard as hell because of all the trees.(He's made pros get pissed.) I've met the female World Champion twice and the male World Champion once. Lol, there was actually a time where like 8 disc golfers stayed at my house for about 4 days because they were here for a big tournament. It's a fun sport.

Keep it up!

I used to go frisbee golfing years ago. I was never any good at either the frisbee or the gold aspect of it, but it was cool.

Heck yeah! I picked it up my freshman year of college when my best friend introduced me to it. So I've been playing as much as possible for the last 2 years. I have introduced my friends to it and I usually got a few times a week, when the weather permits. It's pretty much my life outside of class, until winter sets in.

I always wanted to build my own course. We have 2 places in my town and a few more withing half an hour of driving.

I've actually gotten quite good, I can drive over 300 feet and am usually under par. But I don't even count any more, we just play for fun.

Have you ever tried night discing? It's usually illegal because we're not allowed in the parks after dark, but that makes it more fun, haha. We duct tape glow sticks to our discs and play in the dark.

I really, realllly dont understand threads like this.

Once theres more than 3 posts, everyone skips over everyone else's posts and just posts their own, hobbies in this case. Even if people did read all of the posts, it boggles me how people care what other people's hobbies are on a forum where chances are they'll never meet or talk more in-depthly in their entire lives.

I read quite a few of them. It'd be cool to know if anyone were interested in the same hobbies as me. No need to get negative. (I was also looking to see if anyone happened to quote Mark from the Milk Paton Show )

Anyway, my hobbies other than animation are:
After Effects
Cross Country
Frisbee
Beating everyone at every sport in p.e. (I'm back in public school now and everyone sucks )
Woodburning
Mock Trial Club
and building lightsaber movie props for my movies.
