you made an insulting remark in one of the program announcements and clearly breached the AUP.

If you feel justified, contact TGC pointing out the moderator who did it, and the post that lead to it. It's down to TGC's decisions in the end, but if it's an uncalled for newbie slap then it's only the TGC that can reverse it.

I doubt it.

To be honest Higgins, if this is a surprise, you must have been the only one who didn't see it coming.

It would appear I've been bitten by the coding bug yet again...

higgins you insulted this guy blatantly for no reason : http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=93025&b=32

bob marely : the fact you got a name change was because you thought it was funny to use swearing in your previous name and then shrugged it off. or did you forget so quickly.

have a whinge, go complain, im tired of having to clean up after your posts, have some respect.

To have this conversation with you is fairly pointless. your wasting my time and others who you insult. get a life please, or at least do something constructive, having to clean up after people like you makes this job harder then it has to be. If you get a kick out of it your one sorry dweller.

The thing is...I enjoyed reading Dokuro's posts He's new, he's enthusiastic and most of all he's happy to share the progress of his project with everyone.

You can't fault him, especially when he brushes off the insults and keeps going.

Ditto Batvink...Like he's right in saying everybody needs coffee...but I'd rather tea to be honest Can't be English with out it.

But the least that could have been done is pointing him in the right direction, I see this sort of thing happening in a few of your posts Higgins, I'd take this newb slap and use it to improve upon, I learnt from my newb slap a while back not to go OTT, even if its all a joke and I haven't done it since. Well said.

I'd only add that some people are far too quick to criticise consecutive posts from the same person. If you're adding genuine progress or new information on a topic (as Dokuro was doing), you don't want the thread stuck half way down the list just because you happened to be the poster of the previous few items on the thread.

I find it funny, how so many people like to jump in and act just the same as me. Dont say your not, your doing just the same, getting your word in, doesnt matter if its not rude.

I doubt Mr Indi is Mr perfect him self, either.

I don't see anyone posting like you do to them, people are just mentioning and agreeing about the reasons for your newb slap, and me saying its a good thing to learn from, hence there is a newb slap system in place, nobody is making horrible comments, they're just bringing the reality of it. Its not about being perfect either, most of a us are far from perfect, except me, I'm perfect in every way, no denying it, whoever does is a blatant witch.

Higgins, I can see you might not feel your post was all that bad and not worthy of a slap. To most of us here we would have brushed that one off. However we lose alot of new members who get quickly frustrated by all the negative that can pile up in their early posts. Sometimes such a slap is a detterant to others from flaming someone to death, you my friend seem to have been the example.

Woah there! I'm more perfect.

I just got some blood tests done to check how my health is. The doctor looked at my cholesterol level and said "You're genetically blessed. Your cholesterol looks as if you're taking medicine to reduce cholesterol." I don't take any medicine at all.

To be quite honest, I'm guilty of this my self though (as are a lot, but not to quite the same gravity), you do make a lot of disparaging remarks to many members on the forums and really I'm not suprised you've been "noob slapped".

@Higgins

You lost a long time ago. It's about 1 mod and 10 members against you. Just grow up and be good for a while and I'm sure indi will be more than happy to put you back on normal status if you can handle yourself.

Make that 11. Higgins, I've seen you say a lot of negative things on this forum. It's not surprising to me that you got newb slapped for that post, considering your history. Time to get down off your horse and admit to being wrong don't you think? I reckon you'd be a bigger man for it... just my opinion.

I'd hardly say that was worthy of a newbie slap.. Could easily point out a number of posts where Higgins does deserve one, but that one honestly seems like a stretch just to say he was being "insulting"

It might not have been the nicest response, but it's not even by far the most horrible I've seen people make over the last 24hrs even; and they don't get slapped for it. To me this seems a little more like some personal grudge, because it was a fairly petty action.

Been seeing more and more of such actions from Indi recently, as well as Indi being in the middle of a number of flame-fights with several users. Although I'm not saying you should be saintly, there should be some sort of restraint when dealing with normal users.

Just my thoughts, but guess others seem to agree with Indi that "you seem to be an uber noob" is one of the ultimate insults.

I wont ever grow up, ill always act like a kid. I dont like being grown up and acting like an old fart.

Like Raven has said, it sounds more like a grudge, than any thing, because I had posted that a while back, and indi just decides to dig it up and slap me for it, when he cant be bothered slapping newer offences.

Higgins has been slapped before and he will probably get slapped again.
As various people have pointed out there are quite a few times he has posted something "insensitive"...
I can't speak for the other mods but i don't tend to be as forgiving with repeat offenders.

[quote]"I'd hardly say that was worthy of a newbie slap.."

Coming from another repeat offender.

Now I am not getting onto people and everybody has their personality quirks but some have to be given a couple of days off or be put on post approval status from time to time.

A few things to point out:

If someone is put on post approval it makes the mods' jobs a pain in the backside.
If a post has to be approved we have to approve it.
The mods get the short end of the stick.

The rest is just my opinion...

Indi is nicer than me.I would have locked this a long time ago.

What has happened has happened. If you violate the AUP and get slapped then when your slap is up don't violate the AUP anymore.

In a perfect world the mods wouldn't have to ban or slap someone...
heck, ther would be no mods.We don't particularly enjoy doing some of the things we have to do but it's our job.

I hate the word "noob".It's an insult just like any other and in my opinion it violates the AUP when you call someone that.

This is nothing personal against anybody.I am just speaking my mind and I don't want to offend anyone.
Anyway,I am done with my rant.

please go complain to rich if you feel hard done by.
Im sure wasting his time with a whinge is going to make him approve it.

The fact you post again in spite of it only proves your immaturity, therefore you will have to be moderated. Your still allowed to post, but its going to be moderated since you cant control yourself with insults towards other members.

The fact is, if i dont read all the posts within seconds after them being posted as do other mods, does not warrant a free pass to avoid what was typed, regardless of time frame after the fact.

The forum is not a free pass to insult, the forum is privilege, your multiple insults and statements from other members are clearly being ignored by your comments, you can try the grudge approach but i doubt it will stick. your hand alone and your stupidity with insults is why your on moderation.

its a culmination of his posts, enough said it was coming a long time.
If it was a ban I would understand, but it isnt.
Blatant AUP breach with insults is what caused this, and some of you think its ok to defend those actions, perhaps you need to re-read the AUP.
enough said really im wasting time with this nonsense.

Not defending the actions, just noteing that this appears to be overkill for this particular comment.

Although we can't as users judge on the merit of how many other "verbal assault" offences Higgin's has commited; it seems a bit on the harsh side to then newbie slap him for a "verbal push".
Despite it being counted as a form of assault, it just doesn't make sense in my eyes to have done it like this.

Remember a time when it was customary for moderators to let people know why something has happened to them, now it seems like they do it and then refuse to comment until the obligitary "WTF" thread appears.

I mean how are people going to learn from their "mistakes" if no one tells them what they've done wrong. It's like the cops walking up to a random guy on the street and throwing them in jail.. if they don't tell you why you've been arrested then it's hard to know what not to do in the future.

This isn't a democratically run forum. indi didn't just dig up something old because of a grudge--- I'm sure he has better things to do.

But Higgins, I've seen your comments go over a *lot*, so you're lucky myself or another mod didn't slap you a lot earlier. Get over it and learn.
