Hey, my PC is really earning a new title for itself..."t3h crap"... Just a few minutes ago I started playing BF2, and got into a good server, but after 2-3 minutes of playing, the entire program just shut down, also did it faster than manually by going to the menu and choosing quit. Really annoying.. More and more things keep me from enjoying a game, it went from 30 minutes to 3... Anyone know what this means? Now for sure I am going for an XPS Laptop.. Thanks

I have this exact problem too. I really how no idea why. One of my friends have this problem too

I don't really think it has something to do with my PC, since it's pretty new. The game has some problems.

Yeah, experienced same problem, there must be something wrong with the game itself.

Well it only started happening once I got the patch.. Not much of a "Bug fixing update" as I would have thought...

The bug you are experiencing is caused by "playing BF2/2142". It happens to everyone at some point.

try finding out what map if any it crashes on in particular, if there is one then intall a patch for your graphics card.

yup same problem here, but it's only usually about 1/5 times I boot it up and play it, and it always happens after I sit for 5 minutes getting into a server when I click "Join Game" . I think it's just the game.

it was happening to me last night after applying the 1.41 patch but only at the end of a round when the scores came up it was a 24/7 jalalabad map so I dont think it had to do any loading or anything.

BF2/2142 are renowned for being buggy. "Right after a new patch" is the most likely cause. "Right after new patch" isn't a defense against bugs ... it's the cause!

Since installing the latest 2142 patch I've had it crash mid-game. It only used to happen after a map had loaded, now it's happening all the time.

Sometimes it can be your RAM. If your running 256MB, then you would be pushing it. My friend had the same problem with Guild Wars since he only had 256MB. If you can't get an XPS soon, upgrading your RAM always helps.

I have 1 gig of ram, so thats not a problem. It will absolutly not work on 2142, but it does sometimes work on BF2 (At least a playable amount). Dis is leik bad.

Un-install then re-install?

Perhaps...

1) Are the patches you install incremental or full?
If incremental, uninstall, reinstall, patch with latest full (although a direct overwrite is usually ok, better safe than sorry).

2) Is there any consistency within these crashes, even appearing to be random?
I had trouble before, it only happened when I joined an online game. Single player or LAN was fine.

Turns out (after about 3 months of trying to find out), it was the fact I was running Battlefield off a sata drive. The solution was just update the sata drivers and since then its been fine.
