Yep, you read it right, I came across a cat taking a bath video today. It seemed quite happy, swatting and something on the surface. I don't recommend you try it with your own cat though. I was running a bath for myself once when mine walked in, I picked him up to cradle and pet him, he glanced at the water and instantly sunk his claws into my chest!

Aww that's so cute! None of our cats like water, although a couple of them have been for a swim before...

Very cute indeed - cats and their imaginary tiny floating enemies. Last time I tried to give my mums cat, Casper, a bath, we did it outside on a sunny day and we needed three of us and several towels. It wasn't pretty.

To be honest, if for some reason I felt I needed to give my cat a bath (covered in oil or something). I'd likly put duct tape on his paws to he can't claw me, and do my best to avoid the teeth. I was bitten by a cat once before. I had cat food on my thumb, and rahter than licking the animal bit. His tooth went though my thumb nail as if it wasn't there, so I'd hate to be on the wrong end of an angry cats mouth!

A Good guide to giving a kitty a bath.

Another Cat bath video... it didn't want one!

The next one is HOW NOT TO DO IT!

Waring, if you are a cat lover, you will not like. For those that HATE CATS, you'll love it

Not all cats "hate" water. when I was younger our cat Omen loved to jump into the bath tub and the plastic swimming pool we had. had to make sure whe was not in the bathroom with you when you got in lest you get a cat cannonball that would scare the crap out of ya

We have a fisher cat here, very odd species of cat that I didnt actually know about until my sister came home with the kitten - has noticiably webbed feet and are apprantly excellent swimmers! Ours keeps taking an interest in water, sticking his paw in like hes trying to attack it (does it with glasses of water, baths and sauspans im trying to put potatoes in) but he has not actually expressed any interest in going for a swim yet x.x

but hes still young xD

Edit:

for clarity, when i say fisher cat, I dont mean the "Fishers" which roam wild in some states and are bear-like and quite agressive x.x Our kitty is part Bengal/Fisher and the result is a web footed cute looking monster that could probably take down an elephant xD

We had a cat that swam in the pool with us... we called her Fearless.

We have a cat now named Lucky that is pretty much just like Fearless... we don't have a pool anymore but that cat "play fights" with the other cats (he's a teenager). The other cats hiss, claw, and growl at him (very serious)... he just bats at them (without claws), chases them, and doesn't growl or hiss at them. If he acted just like them they'd be toast. Luckys best friend is our pitbull Shade.

Edit: I just thought of another example of his bravery. When we set off fireworks on the 4th of July all the cats ran for cover at the noise... Lucky just sat on the porch watching the fireworks.

Thats why I'm a cat lover with 20 cats with a nice bit of out of the way farmland to run around in. But not one of them likes getting into water, although some do like to play with water dripping out of the taps, or some like tapping the water in the sink.

Hold mine over water, and the lower he gets the wider his legs spread, and the more frantic the movement. He doesn't exactly struggle, he knows he'll fall in if he does, he's just tryin to make himself wider the the bath. I won't do that again though, and neither will I ever try to give the thing a bath, unless he's covered in something nasty like motor oil.

Yup. But its fine for them where I live, the countryside, they got a nice open space, although half of them sit around the house in the winter, cowards...

That Tigger cat taking a bath was hilarious! Meow meow meow...

Some dogs and cats are dumb with water. For the ones that like water, they'll start to swim before you drop them in the tub. Some start to swim even if you hold them above a glass of water.

cats usually love water if they are exposed to it at an early age and get used to it.

@evil cat

You get locked in a cage, see how you feel.

@karate cat

Reminds me of indianna jones, when the bloke shows off with the swords and jones just shoots him.

@talking cat

Aside from the cat being stroked on the back quaters vigerously, I don't beleive the rest of them. They have an edited feel to me.

@jumping cat

... ouch

@Fishing cat

Well he would if he could!

@Flying cat

I hope that animal was okay. I know they are pretty thick skinned but ye gods!

This clip is brilliant, the cat is chasing a jet of water. Mine would run a mile!

Animals will chase anything. I know this thread is about cats, but my dog will chase a laser pointer like crazy. Whenever you say "light" she gets exicted and runs to where we keep the laser.

My old boarder colly did that too. Manic animal when it was excited. I could have done without the leg humping though.

Things NOT to you your pets this christmas.

Pet Christmas Costumes

Also just for fun. This is what your cat will do to you when you suggest a costume.

They rub the side of their faces against people and objects to scent mark their territory. She's effectively saying "This is MY human!"

If she is simply rubbing the side of her body against you then it's a sign of affection/ or she wants something, such as food. If the tail is straight up in the air, and she is casually rubbing against you, then she is greeting you as a friend. If the tail is hooked, then she's greeting you as a friend but with slight resiviations (perhaps she doesn't always like being picked up). If the rubbing is insistant, and she is meowing at you, then more likely then not she's hungry.

I read alot, and I own a cat. the animals fasinate me. One of my future ambitions is to breed showcats, but I don't live in suitable premesis at the moment. Perhaps in a decade or so, when I own a house and guarden out in the countryside again.
