Note that this is *real*. I guess in Japan they have to cover their butt's with every angle. But really, who would have thought second hand smoke was bad for the Wii?

Those are funny! Don't stick a four leaf clover into the back of your Wii hoping youl be lucky to have it survive.

Hmm...I think this is a case for the Brainiac team, I mean with a manual that detailed, I'm sure they'd love to find out what dangerous things they can do not mentioned in the manual.

These are hilarious. You can't:

- Punch someone in the face while playing
- Wrap the nunchuck wire around your neck
- Pour a liter of urine on the console (or a liter of wii? yeah, that's funnier I think)
- Stick a four-leaf clover in the fan
- Put the plastic packaging bag over your head (and that kid's eyes show intent!)
- Eat or lick the cables
- Use it as a bookend

The other ones seem understandable, but these ones are either silly or hilariously blatent. What's the North America book like? I think I'm getting one for Christmas but until then I won't get a chance to peruse it . I hope it has pictures as interesting as this.

The one where the kid is eating the twisty tie is hilarious for some reason. Lol. That's an awesome find!

Hilarious, and I can imagine the North American version is less so. Some people would be all over it saying that nintendo is jeopardizing our safety or whatever. Well, I have my fingers crossed that there are funny pics.

@Matt, so you're saying urine is supposed to be orange?

Surely, given the letigious nature of the west now, someone would sue Nintendo for $1,000,000,000 because the manual didn't tell them explicitly that the Wii console is not edible.

Interestingly, I noticed that they don't seem to use ticks, they use circles, to indicate that something's OK. Is that a cultural thing, or is it just Nintendo being cool?

The four leaf clover thing isn't that halarious. It's understandable. What's something small enough to fit in that? The stem of a leaf is. They chose that. Then I guess they wanted to make it a four leaf clover... maybe they want to symbolize that even though that's good luck, sticking it in the Wii is bad luck ? :-P

And whatever, the point of that is to not stick it in the wii.

The rest are funny

Mine's mostly rainbow, actually.....

I think the circle is a cultural thing, as I remember seeing it in some of the ds games (maybe brain age academy?).

Mine's orange. Tang orange. I like Tang.

Anyhoo...

Why not, I dunno, a dafodil or something? Or a pencil or something? What's scary is, people must've done these things in order for them to go through the trouble of illustrating them

Has anyone had any trouble regarding the Wii's wrist-strap? CNN had a report about it (seen here). Why isn't there a picture for that? I could think up some funny images for it... too bad I have no artistic ability though

I can't help but laugh at the some of the people swinging their Wiimote into their plasma tv. "Look, mum, I'm a jedi!" Swoosh... smash! (Dad)"Was that the sound of a nintendo product destroying my SONY tv?!?!?!" Kid jumps out window.

Ah well, you have to expect stuff like that to happen.

No funny pictures at all in my manual (Australian) but there is this line:

"Do not use the Wii during a lightning storm. There may be a risk of electric shock from lightning."

Umm.. maybe it's just me, but these aren't funny in the slightest Most of them are pretty standard fare (besides the clover and selling as food one).

You guys never seen an instruction manual before?

Yes, it's just you. This can be found all over the net in different forums, as you have to admit it's quite odd. And no, most instruction manuals do not have to remind you not to breathe second hand smoke into the device

Maybe it's just in US/Australia that you have no funny pictures in your manuals? Because I'm exposed to plenty of stupid pictures in manuals, so I suppose its just normality for me

I mean, the box of fireworks I had last month had a pretty ridiculous diagram on it, sporting the instructions "Do not put in mouth"

EDIT: Smoking reduces the lifespan of most electronic equipment. If you look hard enough, you'll find this warning/advisory in plenty of places

This one is just stupid. It looks like it saying 'Do Not Insert Wii Games into the Wii disc drive. What do you think?

Its saying don't have your finger inside the ring of the CD - the Wii will suck in the CD along with your finger in the middle!

(It has an auto insert sensor for CD's, and guides them into the drive automatically)

There is no scientific evidence to support the notion that second-hand smoke can give your console cancer. But it sure does make Zelda look sexy . Look out Link, she's questioning your masculinity!

Enjoy it! I have to wait until they're in steady supply again Can't wait to get it though. I'm pretty sure I'm getting a Wii for xmas though, so that'll be fun... so long as I don't encounter a wriststrap problem

Not sure whether you're trying to actually challenge what I said or not, mainly because of the injected humour

Either way, smoke + electronics = bad:

Quote: "Smoke residues can contain acids that will corrode metal surfaces when moisture is also present. If the residues are not removed, corrosion eats away at metals and causes electronic failure in the device. "

lol Dave you know me better than that I was only kidding around, mostly because of the big smoking debate a while back hehe.

Ugh, I remember this chick Chelsea I knew in college, she had a Compaq Presario and she chain-smoked on AOLIM every day, just sitting around in her dorm smoking and chatting on AOL and playing Starcraft. When I helped her switch out the RAM, we opened up the case and inside, the white plastic was dark orange, and you could actually see certain chips on the motherboard that looked that same orange-ish color. It wasn't enough to make me quit smoking, but I'm careful now to never let smoke get near my computer
