Of course I'll be getting vista... not getting vista would seriously limit myself, as Microsoft forces you to get it in order to use direct x 10. It looks like a really good os, but I honestly don't think any os should cost as much as Vista does. That's why I'm so glad I wont be paying for it (well not very much).
My parents are Microsoft partners, so they get huge discounts on all things Microsoft, and a large number of things free from them as well. So I'll be getting it through them.

So is every person who's responded to this...
And Hobgoblin Lord is right. Say I make a game in dbpro in dx9 that looks close to next gen (entirely possibly and actually being done by some people), and you make one in dbpro in dx10 that you only put half as much effort into. It won't matter that dx10 is better, because I spent more time on mine and it will look twice as good, and play twice as well at least. After all, dx10 will not improve your gameplay mechanics. It will most likely be a while before it's obvious which dbpro games were built around dx10 and which about dx9. With fpsc though, it WILL make a huge diff immediately, as was seen in the newsletter.
dx10 is awesome still, but that doesn't mean it will make your game better than hl2 or wow.

Yes, just look around the forums at some of the truly awesome titles here. Notice they don't require dx10 to be good...
I'm just saying that unlike adding Cinnamon to your food, dx10 will not automatically make our games awesome.
Edit: I had this open a bit before I responded, and there was your post! Meh.
Still, even with modeling and programing skills you still need to be creative enough to make an interesting game, and when it comes down to it, there are a small number of games still being made in dbc that are more interesting and more fun than some of the best looking bdpro games.
