He's done well! The fact we're impressed by it shows just how crap Paint is.

Glad to hear someone else likes the more progressive type music too

The car kind of looks like those ones from the "Pimp Drag Racing" car flash games you see online, perhaps paint is the secret

Extraordinary. Who would have thought that MSPaint would do something like that?

The video made it look easy, and despite being prone to programmer's art I decided to give it a shot. This is as far as my attention span took me.

No offense TK, but I'm not sure what I'm even looking at. Obviously unfinished of course, but what part of the car was it?

Since when did Paint have a line bending tool?

Now I wanna try this!

Paint has had a line-bending tool since, oh, Windows 95 I think? hehe no one ever uses paint so they don't know what it can do . I dig paint, it's fun... unfortunately I have no noteworthy artistic ability regardless of what I use so Paint suits me just fine lol.

I wonder if he used a WACOM for this? If he didn't, I want to buy whatever mouse he's using

Yeah, he did use a tablet. (said so somewhere, and if he didn't, the technique used has signs of it)

well that explains my confusion then

I figured he used a tablet.

I wish Paint had a smudge tool so I could blend colors a little easier. Here's my attempt.

It's impressive, but only because the art is quite good.. not because of the tool.

The newer tools allows artists to do more quicker, and easier however doesn't mean that art similar to what is done today wasn't possible years ago. Just think back to the PD Zone in the Amiga and Atari era.. some truely impressive art comming from Delux Paint, which now would seems very basic (especially as it's not that different in usability to MSPaint) but at the time it was seen at the top-end art package.

I'm pretty sure it's a cover, but I could be wrong. It sounds a lot like a song by Sub-Sub (who later became Doves) but I don't remember the name of it. But they might just sound alike, dunno. I wouldn't be shocked if it were a cover though, it's not like NIN hasn't done a butt-load of covers in the past. Decent tune at any rate.

I don't think its a cover, Reznor wouldn't put a cover as the headstone of the album, in The Downward Spiral he had a cover called "A Warm Place" which was a cover of Bowie's "Crystal Japan", but that wasn't exactly his headlining song in the album anyway.

Good point, they probably just sound similar. If I could remember which song it is I'm thinking of I could listen to it and compare them . Curse my memory!

The song definitely sounds like NIN.

I remember Deluxe Paint, I think I have version 3. I *think* you could do animations with it also, but I can't remember for sure.

Hehe, nice work Fallout .

DPaint was never the big hit on the ST that Degas, or even Canvas was, they were real nice art packages and DPaint kinda dragged it's heels on the ST, I used Canvas for everything. I think Paint is a little like Neochrome on the ST, which was supplied with it, and most ST artists cut their teeth in it. There was also Spectrum 512, which gave lots of colours, but completely sucked. The amiga's dpaint made it to like version 3 or 4, easily the best art package on that platform.

Oh yeah? That video sucked. I posted a video response to that. It's like 50 times better. Time for you to see a real artist. And yeah, I have no special tools, and this is all MS Paint.

it just goes to show, any tool can be used effectively by a good artist. the skills demonstrated are not based on what tool you use, there based on tried and true methods used by the greatest of artists, light shadow harmony etc.etc.. They had to make the brush as well as build the paint. That in itself is another black art.

Deluxe Paint on the amiga was a great package years ago as stated above. I still have Paint and Draw for the Mac as well on original floppy.

if you must know, it's a quote from a cowboy movie made in the 1960's with a character named Mansoor Pual Regret. In the movie, Mansoor is not a name, it is his title. in French (at least i think it's french) Mansoor means "sir" or "mister".

An easier way to erase your temporary pencil lines in paint:

1. Set the foreground color to the same color of your pencil lines, and the background color to white (or whatever).
2. Use the eraser tool and hold the right mouse button to rub out the pencil lines.
