Well, I'm looking at getting a laptop for family road trips. You know the long boring ones where you drive half way across the country without stopping? Yeah those. Anyhow, I'd like to get a laptop. I am a bit fuzzy on laptop tech as compared to desktop tech. Can anyone help me sort out the Turions fom the Core duos and all that stuff and give me some realistic comparisons to similar desktop tech?

I'd like something close to my PC specs, but in my price range I probably won't find it so I am willing to go with a slower system. Mostly this is depending on the prices of course.

My desktop is as follows:

AMD Athlon 64 3200+
1.5 GB DDR
256 MB 6800 Ultra
160GB hard drive(dont much care about the HD size as that can be upgraded later or I can get a portable or something)

And I do want the laptop it to have a wireless network connection.

So if anyone can help me in picking out a laptop, that would be awesome. I think I want to spend under $1500 if possible. I've checked Newegg, and if these aren't super doped down technologies I have picked out a few laptops which seem to fit my needs, but like I said, I really don't know how comparable a Turion is to an Athlon or a Core2 Duo to a Pentium 4. I know pretty much all the desktop stuff, but I'm still in the dark with lappys since I've never had one before.

Ok, another question hopefully more easily answerable. Does anyone have the X700 graphics in any of their laptops, and if so how well does it play games? I just looked at a benchmark and it said HL2 was running at over 100fps, but the site was in German and I couldn't read much. I want something mobile that will be somewhat close to what I have at home.

I have the Dell XPS M1210 - 2Ghz Duo, 2GB Ram, 100GB HD, 256MB geforce Go 7400 etc. Runs most new games at top or near top settings absolutely fine. Plus it is a 12.1" so nice and portable. Has max of 7 hours battery too.
