About this time, I suppose most people have sent their applications to university, I think it would be a good idea to see what offers other people are already getting.

I sent mine off a few days ago and I've already got a compliment and an offer from Derby, probably the first non standard letter I've received in the post. They were happy with my grades and loved the enthusiasm I put in the personal statement for my selected subject, which is something to make you feel good Considering I only did 3 drafts and everyone else did about 15.

Well, I've applied and this is what I've got so far:

Cambridge (Interviewed this Monday gone)
Durham (Interviewed this Wednesday gone)
York (Interviewed and got an AAB offer)
Warrick (AAB)

And these two were for insurance:

East Anglia (320 points)
Lancaster (BBB)

Cool, I got a letter from the Anglia Ruskin (Cambridge) today, telling me I'll be notified on their decision from UCAS soon. Shame really I would have liked a nice personalised letter like I got from Derby.

If we're lucky/unlucky (depends you how you see it ) we may end eating lunch in the same Starbucks, you'll notice my weird ways and run a mile...

Ones I have applied for;
Anglia Ruskin (Cambridge Campus)
Derby
Northampton
Gloucester
Norwich
Winchester

But the two I wanted to get a 'yes' from were Derby and Anglia Ruskin and hopefully their decision was a yes.

And from looking at my UCAS account and the letter they sent me, none of the universities seem to want interviews, as I took the 'A- route'

I've applied for Biology at:

Durham
Bristol
Nottingham
Birmingham
Liverpool
Manchester

I'm gapping at the moment, but have more than the required grades for all.

However, I've no idea how my application's doing apart from a couple of "application recieved" emails as the ucas "track" page only allows passwords up to 9 charcters in length. When I registered in the "apply" section I entered one a great deal longer so can't log in to "track".

I must ring them up and have a go.

I would contact them yes, all your info should be in the track part, so if a university decides they won't mail you, then you're going to have to wait until UCAS send you their letter, plus it makes it difficult to accept as well without the track part.

And lucky you having all the right grades, all of my offers will be conditional, because I'd would have had to done really well in my AS exams to get 180 UCAS points

I applied to Westminster University, and they gave me a rather lowered offer of DDE, needless to say I'll be steering clear of that! Staffordshire is my current fave for 1st choice...

Killswitch, I entered O for any college, as I wouldn't have a clue which one to go for. I stayed on the floor of a friend's in castle though and I must say the place is stunning.

Yes from what I've heard the computer facilities at the ARU aren't that good, but I'm going a Creative Writing course, the only thing I'll be using computers for is the internet, Microsoft word and a printer But thanks for the heads up on accommodation. The reason I picked ARU is because it is supposed to be the best for my course, plus its really close to home, not to mention I know my way around Cambridge really well, it seems to be the almost perfect place Which is why I'm going to one of the open days just to make sure.

Chenak which campus you at? Cambridge or Chelmsford?

I would go to Leeds if I were Emo, simply because emo's like suicide and I'd be too much of a coward to do it myself, hence going to Leeds, then I wouldn't have to do it

Im at the cambridge campus

My girlfriend is actually doing the creative writing course and she says its very good, apart from ways of reading which is the standard uni course which involves writing about how difficult uni work is compared to a-level and gcse, how you think you are doing on your course and so on but on the whole shes enjoying it.

Nice one, I suppose if I get accepted, I'll be meeting your girlfriend, from the sounds of things its a good place for the course, well I'll see how it matches up to Derby by going to open days.

(AS)

Religious Studies (B) (I would have got an A, but the teacher who taught us the foundation paper was crap and often turning the lesson into talking about his personal life)

English Language (C)

English Literature (E) (Our teacher was really crap, she took a dry novel, Emma by Jane Austen and taught it in the most uninteresting way possible without teaching it well, this year we're doing her other novel and it feels so much better with a new teacher, I'm resitting the Streetcar named Desire and Poetry exam)

Psychology (D) (I was weak on my research methods and did terrible in that exam)

And this year I'm doing the same, except I dropped psychology, and now I'm on top of everything, so, hopefully I'll get much better grades (I know my RS coursework was 4 marks from an 'A' after second draft, I just handed in my third, fingers crossed), of course tonight being my first night in a while where I haven't had to do work.

Cool, UCAS emailed me saying I got one from Glouster, and Anglia Ruskin sent yet another letter, this one asking for 2 samples of work, so I'm going to have to pick my best ones

I've just in the process of applying to go to both University of Tonto and Ryerson, also in toronto. I'm still researching into universities in other countries, and also holding the RAF as a possibility. I think in terms of priorities, RAF wins unless i get a scholarship.

The universities are more of a backup incase i do something stupid like loosing a leg or whutever meaning i cant join the forces.

Woot, I now have offers from,

Anglia Ruskin
Derby
Gloucestershire
Winchester
Northampton

And Norwich have said nothing yet. I am almost ready to reply to them, but I am stuck between my number 1 choices, Anglia Ruskin (Cambridge) or Derby, so I have been invited to a visit day to Derby and am going to the open day and ARU hoping the decision will be easier to make.

I've looked at the two, Derby, lovely location, beautiful place in England, nice bit of country, home of one of the most proud and richest characters in English literature, 'Mr Darcy'. Quite an inspirational town for a Creative Writer, the campus is conveniently located and posh looking outside, its a 15 minute walk to uni and 5 minute walk to town supposedly. The prices per week are good, about £50 a week for a standard room where all of the halls do look attractive in terms of what attractive would be in that context. and £75 a week if I want an en-suite bathroom facility and ARU accommodation isn't too different, except someone mentioned a bad halls and they seem to only start at £75 a week.

An advantage of going to Cambridge for a university is a whole status statement and it will make getting into a job easier, plus I know the place pretty well and will have quick access to my current friends and family. It's annoying to choose between the two, but hopefully I make my decision. ASAP whilst I still can.

Good luck, my Dad used to be in the RAF, and it was my birth that prevented him from flying his dream plane, the Harrier Jump Jet or something. But I suppose you're just using their Aerospace as opposed to actually being there (which I do suppose is good, as you would be sent to war or anything like that)

I'm half a sleep to be honest, don't expect my words to make any sense, but what I tried to say wasn't important, ignore it.

Quote: "Cheers! I bet he was pretty gutted. Thats probably why he invited you to join karate"

Haha, well I'm sure that 'only chance' thing is something my Dad uses to try and tease me, he does that a lot, like emphasising the fact I was an accident, or telling me I was adopted or that the milkman is my father. As for beating the cr*p out of me, he has been able to do that to me, he runs out of breath quicker for one thing, that's when his attacks become weaker and make him an easier target, although for the past 6 months me going to Karate has been a rare occasion, meaning, he probably has gotten a lot better since then, even Birri, who started 6 months after me is giving me tips now.
