If you're referring to creating your own forums on the TGC apollo system, you can't. You're obviously able to post on existing forums with new topics, but that is as far as you can go.

First off, you post to the relevant board (Programming Talk would probably be appropriate.)

The easiest way is to use a pre-built forum software like PHPBB. However, if you want to write your own, you'll need a good knowledge of a web scripting language like PHP or ASP/ASP.net, plus a decent knowledge of SQL and database structure.

Good performance is better than a good excuse.

With some rumour at one time or another being available for distribution. Think Rich considered it at one point. As I said, before you bite my head off for being inaccurate, RUMOUR...

I wrote a basic forum in ASP.NET, leveraged against SQL Server 2005. It came out pretty nifty but was only a working model, without the bells and whistles of this forum (though they were planned for). It was using a basic datagrid control to display pages etc, and I began work on the custom control for the posts in the threads but hit a few snags (beginnings of the bells and whistles) but then that contract ended so I stopped work on it (was an unasked for part of a bigger client project)

oh well

I'm writing a forum at the moment using PHP and MySQL (Which I believed is what Rich is using for this forum now). If you want to look at it, http://dabgames.galekus.com/forum/. I'm going to re-write it to be more user friendly and able to be customized more easily. At the moment, you have to hard code every change, but I'll fix that on the re-write.

It's fine. I prefer the joy and fun of making it myself. Thanks though.
