I am now deciding what notebook I might buy for my game development needs, but I came to this point where I don't see quite a big difference.

Which video card is better for my notebook?

NVIDIA Quadro FX 1500M 256 MB vs. ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 256 MB

I am now using Radeon on my desktop computer but before that I used GeForce and I like ATI better because it works faster and gives more crisp graphics, but they are from the same class and specifications are the same.

So what is better for my notebook which I am going to use for developing games in Dark Basic Professional. This will be my first notebook, so I dont know which video is better for it! They both have Shader Model v.3.0, same memory amount, both uses PCI-Express 16x etc. etc.

Thanks,
Olby

If all specs are the same, and you prefer ATI, then get ati. I mean if you really think ati works faster gives more "crisp" graphics, then why even ask? wouldnt you already have brand loyalty?

I'd go with ATI, IMO.

Is this THAT drew? I would go with nvidia for more modern games...

I prefer nVidia for games. Isn't ATI more meant for Movies, and stuff like that?

Okay I decided to go this way:

HP - Nx9420 (RH457EA#ABB)

Screen Size: 17'' (max 1680x1050)
CPU: Core 2 Duo 2.16 Ghz
RAM : 1024MB (MAX 4-GB)
HDD : 120GB
Disc drive: DVDRW DL, DVD+- RW SuperMulti
OS: Win XP Professional
Cpu cache: 667 MHz
Memory type: DDR2-667
HDD Speed: Serial ATA, 5400 rpm
Display: TFT WSXGA+ (WVA Bright View)
Video: ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 256 MB
Battery capacity: 4 h
Audio: Intel High Definition Audio

etc. ....

Did anyone here uses HP laptops ? Everyone said it is a good and quite powerful computer thus will suite my dev needs, just wanted to check what fellow game developers think?

The only thing I am concerned about is the slow HDD RPM! I had to choose between 72GB, 7200 rpm or 120 gb 5400 rpm. As I said before my main aim is to create games and so I don't have much time to play them, but I red one review and it said that FEAR was working on this little baby seamlessly.

that setup looks great to me, i have an hp laptop and as far as laptops go bigger hdd is better over faster hdd these days, remember you can't add another one if you run out of space.

i also have an hp (dv9022ea), it has an nvidia 7600 but i'm contacting hardware support because of issues with the nvidia chip. good call going ati all the other cards in my desktops are ati and i've never had a problem.
the 7600 is comparable persormance with the x1600 ati card however, and i find the 7600 very adequate for games, 3d modeling (although this is where i get odd artifacts) and other graphics card intensive stuff.

AMD athlon 64 3000+, 1GB ddr400, 720GB total hdd, ati radeon x700pro 256mb (pci-e) 17" tft(@1280x1024).

perhaps you should consider what game audience your developing for.
If you have an ATI and the rest of the consuming public your making the game for has creeped over to Nvidia then you may have some issues to resolve.

Well here in my country everyone uses what is cheaper for them, because almost 98% of people who play games are young and do not have money for expensive hardware, thats why maybe there are more ATI users - they chips are quite cheap and have good performance.

@mm0zct - Thanks for the good Hp reply tho.
