Ok, been working on a new SMG weapon for FOTF.

I've been reading alot of tutorials on UV mapping in maya, and I think I'm really getting much better. The UV's for this gun are nigh on the best I've ever done... there's very little stretching anywhere.

On the vid/renders there may be a grey area on the barrel and on the top RIS rail thing, but these are minor glitches.. don't worry!

The video doesn't really do the animation justice as the recorder only records about 1 in every 5 muzzleflashes, the fire animation has a coupla different random recoils so that it's not just the same loop over and over, finally in game there will be no ammo counter... thats why you get a dreaded "click click click" when you run out of bullets.

Hope you guys like it .. please check the renders and Vid and gimme some feedback, I'd love to know what y'all think

nice but like wheres the vid?

Edit: posted too soon we both posted at like the same time lol

Edit again: random animations.... how did you do that? It could be great for my melee weapons as the same animation all the time is boring.

Very nice Butter, as usual. Going to effect that style of yours if your mapping these better, but I'm sure I'm not the only one that says "Don't change to much".

Great work as always

well, I'm thinking of re-mapping all of my old stuff, I can get the maps much neater now, and would probably allow me better use of shaders...

Thanks for the comments guys, keepemcomin!

Nice gun man! Lookin forward to the FOTF release!! Did you ever get that melee script I sent you awhile ago?

He said, "You drink when you're lonely." No I drink when I want!
He said, "You'll never be sober." Sure. Why would I want that?

Nice work, Butters.
One little thing, though... Theres a strange white line accross the back of the stock. Don't think thats supposed to be there...
Nice work,
Dan.

Bump (I feel justified as at least three of the posts pushing this one down have been locked for being pointless)

I knew this kind of stuff was going to happen.
All I can say is try to bear with it and we will get it straightened out as soon as possible.
I feel bad for people who are doing outstanding work whose threads are getting buried by nonsense.

I think he got his compo entry done in time.He is probably still sleeping, trying to recover from it.
He is also currently taking a break from the forums so it may be a while before he gets back to you.

I thought this thread was new, untill I read the dates. I must have missed a lot of threads while I was under a noob slap.

Iam just going to add, good work butters, I can see you are getting better with uv mapping (Ive kind of given up big time modelling, as I used to do)
