This year it seems I managed to actually get a decent amount of money for x-mas, so I decided to go ahead with my plan to buy a drawing tablet for my PC. Now, I really have no idea how these things work, but the basic premise is I need to be able to draw out stuff on my computer for things such as concept art for games. Obviously a drawing tablet is perfect for this, but I have no idea what the best thing to get would be. Any suggestions on a nice tablet for less then 70 bucks?
And also, do the tablets have their own screens to show what your drawing on them? Thanks to all, and happy Holidays.

get a wacom graphire, its in your price range. Any other tablet manufacturer is a waste of your time and money. I've got a wacom, i've had it for 2 years without a single problem.

thats the same kind I have. thats not me I found it on google.

What kind of art are you doing? I use a big one because I have to draw with lots of detail, if you're doing vector art or maybe anime-ish or cartoon art you could suffice with a 4x5 or 6x8 would be nice.

you plug it in to the USB port and draw on the active area, and it comes up on the screen. its pressure sensitive and when you hover about 2 or less inches above it it will just move the mouse. Press down and it will be the same as a left click, with pressure sensitivity.

I plan to use it mostly for drawing out ides, be it weapons, level sketches, characters, monsters, pretty much anything in the game concept realm. Since it will be sketches, I dont THINK Ill need to have to much detail.

well, you can do as much detail as you like with a smaller one, you just have to zoom into the image you're working on.

I have a 4x6 Wacom Graphire4, and it's sufficient for what you want to do.

naw for "graphics" like GUIs and stuff a 4x5 will be just nifty, and take up less desk space.

the thing about them is you have to zoom in to get the same detail, and then you cant see as much of your work, but you wont be working on a 3000x2000 at 300 DPI most likely.

Have fun, I love mine.
