I'm having trouble finding one. I've got an external that went kaboom a few weeks ago and I can't find a free program or a demo that doesn't just let you preview lost files.

anyone got any suggestions?

im on windows XP SP2, so thats an NTFS drive btw.

active file recovery is not free, this demo i just ran for 2 hours will only allow up to 65kb.

I have 50Gb of music I need on this HDD.

I'll try the others but they don't sound like they do what I need them to do, which is recover files from a corrupted drive.

The demo CAN recover all my files, but i don't want to pay for one use.

EDIT:
no none of these are free, and the demos can't even recover a full 100kb of data.

Try PC Inspector File Recovery - its free, and can uncover files of any size. However, its quite unstable after a few uses.
