I made a 3d image on my friend's computer using 3ds, exported it as a direct x 8.0 file, and i get the error message "could not load 3d image". I also tried using a .3ds file, but the program just crashes for no reason without an error message. Can someone please try and explain to me what i'm doing wrong? Is there something i'm not doing during the exporting process?

EDIT: I attatched the .x file to this post.

EDIT: My bad, it's an untextured 3d object, and i'm using DBP

final edit: I solved the problem, thanks for the help.

An 'Image' is not an object. An object is not an image.

When you save a .X file which is textured, the texture image is not embedded in it - it's saved as a separate file.

So, you need to copy the texture over along with the .X file - or you get the image not found error.

Also, DBC (although you didn't say, I assume you are using DBC right??) needs the texture to be a BMP file and have the old 8.3 DOS-style filename or you will have problems:

This Is Not Allowed.bmp
This_Is.bmp
