Ok, I just got a new Wireless adapter in hopes that it would stop doing this. Here is what has happened:

I recieved a really old wireless USB adapter to connect to the internet. If I left my computer for a while and came back, the internet wouldn't work. THe network would work, but I couldn't connect to the internet. Everything appeared to work, and no one else has any problems in our network. To get my computer back on the internet, I have to restart it. Untill I leave my computer running without usage.

I just got a Linksys Wireless-N PCI Adapter. In fact, I'm using it right now. Everything seems to work with it. I was hoping that getting something newer than what I had would fix that problem. It lasts longer, but still, the internet "turns off" after a certain time of no usage. Could some one help? I would greatly appreciate it.

Edit: I just found some new drivers, so I'll see tomorrow if it worked (or tonight even)

What do you mean by wa? You mean "what?" If so, basically,

Some hardware on your computer may have a checkbox in it's properties for "Power management."

If so, the computer is allowed to turn off network controllers
and other things that connect to these adapters after a time.

You may have to dig to find these settings, if thats your problem.

As for the spyware/trojans/virii, I'm using Windows Defender, AVG Antivirus, and Spy bot S+D, along with Zone Alarm Fire Wall, so I hope its none of the above; but I'll do a thorough check.

I searched on Google, and found this site which might explain what's happening.

Edit: I just found a website on Nvidia's forum that talked about the power usage of things. Well, he told how to get into the power usage of other devices. So, here is the link:

So, I right-clicked my computer, properties, hardware (tab), Device manager.

I found my device, right-click, properties, (I didn't find a power management tab, but under the advanced tab, I found Power Save mode item in this selection list). I selected the Power Save mode under the Advanced Tab, and for the value, I chose Disable.

Let's hope this solves this for good.

if you go into the harware properties of the device you will find it there:

by the way im not on tesco dial up, i have a new connection i havent removed from the network connections yet

My adapter doesn't have the power thing. Just general and Advanced. But I think that the other change I made worked.

im sure it does, click on the device to open the normal properties which is the 2nd window open on that screen shot. Then click the properties button on that window. Now click configure and it will open up that first windows on my screen shot

Ok, it took me to the same place, but setup a bit different.


Another Question:
There is a bluetooth collaboration setting. What does that do? would it allow me to connect ot my phone to upload things? Or at least connect to other bluetooth objects?
