The biggest headache is security, you may need to allow LAN connections, depending on your firewall it could be easy, or a pain in the butt. Maybe disable the firewall to make sure it should work, then worry about the complex settings if you need to."
Yes that worked van B i had already setup 2 computers to the same workgroup but it still wouldnt connect until i set the firewalls to "allow all" then BAM! which is nice...im using sygate personal firewall on both computers i'll just make a rule to allow traffic from these IP's.
Quote: "Connect router to ISP, ISP assigns router the external IP via DHCP. Then set the router to enable its own dhcp server that way each connected pc will get assigned an internal internet-unroutable ip address like 192.168.1.100. Set windows networking on each connected pc to use DHCP (automatic network settings), dont set static ip's unless you need to. The machine names (named pipes) will be enough to do what you want, ie get to them with a unc path \\ThePCName\C$ - youll get prompted here for a login to the machine but only the first time you connect. You can also set up shares on the machines and add them as network connections etc. If each pc connected has a soft firewall then allow the internal ip range on each of them. In the router you can set a starting-ending ip range for the routers dhcp server like 192.168.1.100 - 110 or whatever. This generic setup should work on any windows pc's from 95 thru XP"
Thanks for your help cattle it works fine now. You and van b where the biggest helps as well as indi now i have a resource site to go to as well =)
